Molasses in Pumpkin Pie?

I have a recipe from Rachael Ray's magazine that calls for 2T of molasses in the pumpkin pie filling. For some reason, that sounds like a good combination to me.

But... I'd just prefer to make the recipe on the can of Libby's pumpkin.

Will it hurt to just add 1 or 2 T of molasses to this recipe instead?

RR's recipe makes a shallower pie (uses on 8 oz of the 12 oz can of evaporated milk) and also uses both white and brown sugar. I like the Libby recipe because it calls for a deep dish pie crust and uses the whole can of evaporated milk and only white sugar.
