For what its worth, I have used both Aura and Cabinet Coat. Both have worn well in the last two years. I used Cabinet Coat in my kitchen and it was immediately wonderful, I couldn't stop touching it for months and it washes like a dream. I have 4 boys, so my house is not lightly lived in! When I did my bathroom I used Aura because it was available in a darker color. My only Aura issue was that it took much longer to cure, so I spent a month or so adding touch up paint. After it fully cured, I have never had a problem. Both paints level well and have a great sheen. Really, either way you won't make a bad decision. Have fun!

i might be able to help with my experience. I am not a painter. I am currently painting my cabs with the waterborne Benjamin Moore right now. My Benjamin moore store told me that oil based paint is not necessary anymore today with the quality of latex paints available today. I can tell you that the cabinets in the rest of my house were painted with benjamin moore impervo over 12 years ago, and they are still beautiful. I can also tell you that the finish is smoother and prettier than the new cabinets in my kitchen that I have used the waterborne paint on. And, I am or I believe that i am doing a really good job so far. I primed, sanded, painted first coat, sanded, painted on second coat. don't get me wrong, they look good, but the ones done 12 years ago just have a smoother finish. do not think that it will be easy to put latex over oil later. its not easy or simple at all. you will need to stip the oil paint off first. Or, i have heard that you can sand to roughen the oil paint up a bit and then apply an oil based primer and then you can paint with latex over that. but, I have never done this before. as far as my 12 year old oil painted cabs yellowing, they problably did a bit, but to me they just look like a creamy white. If they have, i don't mind it.

i have decora Arlington cherry cabinets. Sorry I don't recall the door style (SHOCKER!! a year ago i would've known the edge profile on the door style by heart). we had them installed a bit more than a year ago. i love my cabinets. the finish is amazing and so are the syle, durability, etc.... i did not have a great experience with Decora though. We placed the order in Jan 2007, shortly before the price spike, and the order was delayed by about 2 weeks (about 8 weeks all together) due to a spike in production (a lot of people wanted to take advantage of the 2006 pricing). It seems that the QA was seriously affected. I had to have at least 1 cabinet replaced, at least 9 doors replaced, some molding pieces were not stained perfectly and had to be replaced. I don't recall all the gory details but everything is in my blog. It was a pain and delayed the remodeling considerably. HOWEVER, customer support was amazing. everything was replaced, i didn't have to send anything back and i got a bunch of freebies. I heard plenty of bad stories with horrible customer support, Decora was the opposite. they really know how to correct their mistakes. my KD said that it was the first time he has seen so many issues with decora and also attributed the drop in QA standards due to a rapid production spike. Normally, (in his opinion) it is one of the more reliable cabinet makers. beware of the great variability in pricing. i got cabinets at 55% off the list price. the other place i looked at had the decora cabinets at a measely 30% off the list price. also their website is very customer -friendly. they have the specs that allowed me to perfect the kitchen and to drive my KD crazy, LOL. so, in summary: i love my decora cabinets and would most likely buy from them again (someday for a bathroom redo). but we had some major gliches along the way...
