Feeling Productive

I've been such a slug this past week and a half with DH home on vacation (and still 4 more weeks to go--LOL).

but got up this morning, went to Wallmart to get supplies for rubbing my mother's gravestone when we visit the cemetary tomorrow,made breakfast, put together potato salad, baked a batch of chocolate chunk cookies and a pan of sour cream apple bars. Then I sat down and wrote a letter to my lawyer with the info he needs to make up the releases for my sibling to sign to get their inheritances from Mom. Organized my estate accounts, in preparation of printing them out.

Whew! and it's only 11:30 here. DH, meanwhile, is out checking out the new generator we got last week. Not a bad morning's work, all told.

Anyone else getting anything done today?

Nope! Walking the dog for 2 miles is my biggest accomplishment thus far - don't know how the rest of the day will unfold - it's very warm outside today, but with 30 mph winds, it's impossible to work outdoors - I might head off to the nursery to smell the clean, fragrant potting soil! Ahhhhhhh, SPRING!

I've been up cleaning and cooking. I seldom cook anymore but I was sick last week and watched too much Food TV so I had to try some things. DH went to the flea market this morning to sell some stuff he wanted to get rid of. I thought he'd probably only stay until noon. It's almost 2 and he is not here. I'm getting a little ticked off since I went to the trouble to cook. Of course we didn't talk about when he would be home or that I was going to cook but that is beside the point.

I have never seen or heard of any manufacturer of "plexiglass" shower doors. What you may have is 3/16" acid etched or frosted glass. At a home center you will most definitely find cheap or cheap feeling shower doors as the base model in my opinion. If your in a development of tract housing your probably stuck with what you have as I would be fairly certain what you have is what is written in the base contract. What manufacturer is your current shower door?

Since I don't know the full story ie your husbands side and also only what you wrote here it sounds to me like your husband is abusive. Sounds like my ex. (note we had an amicable divorce and we still talk on occasion like friends). At some point when I'd tried to be whatever it was he said he wanted and nothing changed I moved to the never let his things about looser etc. get me down instead I continued to build my self-confidence and it just got worse. It wasn't me, it was him. He had to put me down to make him feel better about himself. He would have preferred me being completely dependent on him and not the self-sufficent person I am by nature. Which in the beginning I was more dependent on him. You are not doing anything wrong - keep repeating that to yourself. I see nothing you're doing wrong. You are caring for your daughter, you love your husband, you are working and supporting yourself. I don't see you doing anything wrong. What I think is that your husband has other issues and he is just taking them out on you and making himself feel better in the process. Social sites and being on sex sites is not normal for a married man, however I doubt that is your fault either. My ex cheated on me so it made my decision really easy. My 2nd husband and I dated for three years and was married for two years without living together during the week. Long distance can work, both people have to be comitted to it. Did your moving make things worse? I'm guessing it was pretty bad before you moved and if he said something like I'd kill you then you definetly did the right thing for you and your daughter to move. Why not try reading up some on verbally abusive spouses and see if this fits what you've been dealing with and go from there. I wouldn't want my daughter (or son) to be around that as then they grow up thinking that is how men treat women, which trust me they don't. My second husband is wonderful and there is nothing like it in our relationship. One thing with an abusive relationship is that us women often become very attached and think we are doing something wrong and think we are very much in love. Once you realize and sort of wake up to what the relationship is it makes it much easier to decide what to do. As I said I don't know if yours is a verbally abusive relationship or not, but I encourage you to read up on it and see if your husband fits the patterns. I never thought my ex was until I read a true crime book and saw all the signs in it on my ex. and after that is when I got my self-confidence back and started working on myself and let those things roll off my back. I wish I'd decided to leave then too instead of sticking it out (we didn't have children), which was dumb as I thought I still loved him. I care for him, but I don't love him.

OMG, can you believe I forgot about the taxes between yesterday and today?? I can believe it. Sadie, I once heard some good advice from a rather odd source. I was invited to a corporate Christmas party where the hired entertainment was a retired police officer now working as a hypnotist. I don't know how he segued that night from hypnosis to a motivational speech, but for some reason he spoke about the word "try." He said when we say we're going to try to do something, it almost guarantees that we won't. He gave as an example the person who responds to a party invitation by saying, "I'll try to be there." You know she won't show up. He said the word has the same effect on us when we use it ourselves. I remember his speech well because it rang so true to me. I thought of a friend of mine who has a slew of self-defeating behaviors. He is his own worst enemy. He's always saying, "I'll try to get there on time".... "I'll try to have that project done next week"... "I'll try to find something for my wife's birthday." His friends know that none of these things are going to happen. I think many of us on this board have the tendency to procrastinate. I know I do! But recognizing it is the first step to changing it. If you can say to yourself, Well, I really don't want to do this, and I'd rather do (whatever), but if I don't tackle this task now it's going to kick me in the head later, you can get it done. veronicae, I'm so sorry about your mother. Everything can change so fast sometimes. I'm happy to see my favorite thread active again. First, to answer the question about books, I found a new series (to me) by Monica Ferris that is the best of the knitting fiction so far. The books revolve around a shop called Crewel World and are mysteries of sorts but she does the best job of making the needlework fit in with the stories and she writes better than the other authors of this type of book, in my opinion. I've listened to four of them so far, having started in the middle of the series, and will continue through them all. My most recent project other than baby blankets was a lacy wrap I made for my sister for next Christmas. I used a bamboo blend yarn that was very splitty but the finished product is beautiful, if I do say so myself. I also started on a log cabin blanket but had to stop to wait for more yarn to be delivered and never started on it again. Someday....... While reading on Ravelry, I found that there is a group called The Knitting Guild Association that has correspondence courses in knitting as well as three levels of masters knitting programs that lead to certification as a master knitter. While I don't care about the certification, I've been anxious to learn more about knitting for a while so I've started one of the correspondence courses this week. I've already learned a good deal and hope to continue on. My sensitivity to wool prevents me from taking classes at my local store because you can only take a class using their yarn and they don't sell anything that doesn't contain wool so I'm really happy to have found these courses. The masters level programs, from what I've read, are quite extensive and involve research as well as knitting and sound like a lot of fun. And, of course, I've had to invest in several new knitting books along the way, both books on technique as well as essays. I'm learning! I'm also studying Latin at the same time so it is like being in school again.

NOPE! I'm sick AGAIN, so my goal today is to take a nap! lol Dh took DD on some adventure, so I've got some peace ans quiet!

Just been sitting and relaxing, doing a Suduko puzzle, and may start a new book, then hopefully ZZZ's!

I am still nursing my injured Spleen. But, I've watched two good movies today. LOL!

Everything is stacking up. I have someone coming in tomorrow to work in the yard for me so, I have to go pick up all the dog toys. LOL!

Finished painting my kitchen (pics in another post). We've been talking about it since we renovated, 14 years ago. It's like walking in sunshine! Lord, I'm about to break into song! LOL!

Gosh, you are doing all the good! For some reason I am just exhausted on Sunday afternoons. I can barely put one foot in front of the other at the moment.

This morning was Mass and then right after that, the religious education classes. I am the director. Today was also the parish family breakfast and then we had the students' play rehersal right after that. It was all fun, and none of it too strenuous, but you'd think I ran 10 miles and did 100 push-ups with the way I feel now.

My plans for the rest of the day, provided I manage to actually get up and do it, are to do a little (very little!) garden work and write the next family newsletter for our students and their parents.

Dinner tonight? I have no idea.... Nope, not a glimmer of productivity here.

I cleaned off my kitchen table, got rid of all the papers. Found all the stuff I need for filing taxes (groan), and paid all my bills. Got it all done by one pm, DH is so proud of me!

DH and i both worked in the yard for several hours,pulling all those weeds the winter rains left us with.Then DH came in ,made dinner and did laundry.I have to fold the laundry in a few minutes,he doesn't like that part.

After church and my weekly lunch out, I came home and chopped up the melting ice on my driveway. Then I picked up about half of the winter's dog poop which was thawing in my yard. Went grocery shopping because I had literally nothing in the fridge or cupboards. That's about it. Just relaxed in front of the TV with the furbabies.

I helped DH move the 2 cord wood pile and reorganized the wood shed. Found a dehydrated rat! Moved the large black plastic compost bin and put everything back in after mixing it up. Again helped DH trimmed up the lower limbs on 9 large redwood trees and make a pile to take to the dump. Plus the usual dishes, laundry, changing beds, bathing dog and some organizing. Also baked chocolate chip cookies. Surfed the web and hung on on KT.

I've been a slug this week too so decided today I would move. I ran errands, made bread pudding, did laundry and cleaned and recleaned all my hardwood floors. I am pooped.

Started taking down winter stuff and decorating for Easter.
Went to my grandson's baseball game.
Went to visit my dad and bring him food.
Went to eat lunch with my sister.
Went out to eat supper with DH.

Yikes Azzalea! You make me tired just reading this.

Things at work are hectic, and after working 5 12 hour days last week, I still had to go into work on Saturday, so I lost a day of leisure.

Yesterday though, I spent about 3 hours in the garden pruning, weeding & fertilizing. Then I came inside and did laundry until 10 pm and watched bad Sci Fi movies. LOL!
