I've never done this, but where do they get it from???

My sister brings it back from Mexico.
Eleven dollars and some change for 5 pills.
I can't afford to have my prescription for
Imetrex filled it's just way too expensive!
Plus it's sold over the counter there.
No prescription needed!

I would be very careful about it.I have heard a lot of news reports about some of the overseas prescriptions not being what they were suppose to be.I'd check it out carefully.

Since I can no longer get quinine here in the US or Mexico I order it online from Canada. My doctor gives me a prescription and I call an 800 number to an online Canadian internet prescription company. Then I fax them the prescription and pay for the meds with my credit card. The quinine usually comes from England. I have been doing this for a couple of years with no problems.

I would NOT do it as first it is illegal, and 99% of the times you will end up with a virus or someone getting into your computer--or even identity theft.
If meds are too expensive, many companies do have special programs for you to work with. Ask your medical staff, pharmacist, and/or the company that makes the drug. It use to be that here is the US we could go to a Canadian Dr first, then we could get pills in Canada. Not sure if that is available now or not.
What lillepad says is true. You probably will not get the drugs you need.

Last nite our Canadian news program called W-5 did a full hour on the price of life-saving prescriptions that people are paying out of their pockets. They aren't covered by our provincial insurance.

One drug was $3600 per Month, the fellow can't afford that. He scoured online and saw that the same drug in Mexico was $90 for a month's supply. He ordered it, and when it got to the border, the guards found it and destroyed it.

So he was out the money, and out the drugs he wanted.

I googled generic imitrex and found this:A generic version of the drug in tablet form became available December 2008 in the United States and is distributed by Ranbaxy.

I did not search Ranbaxy, but you could and see what you find.

Just recently there was (another) mention on TV of some generics from various places/companys. Said some pills had chalk in them.

My dh has been taking the generic--co-pay for it is $10 and for Imitrex it was $30. Do ask your doc for it and don't risk getting contaminated drugs from elsewhere. It kills me to write that as I know the phamr companies here are making money hand over fist, but I do know that drugs from other countries (not Canada?) can be adulterated.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I've been taking Imitrex for years, it is a lifesaver I just can't afford them at this time. I am going to ask my Dr. about some help, samples or even some kind of help from Glaxco-Welcome, the ones who make them. I was kinda iffy about getting them from England, but the price was $6.50 for a card of 6 tablets was an eye catcher. And, just like one poster said, you never know what you might get, could be getting chalk, plus I sure don't want the DEA hand delivering them. LOL. Thanks again everyone for your help and opinions. I had taken imitrex for many years. However, my insurance company demands that if a generic is available, we must use it unless we are alergic to any of the fillers in the generic.

The law is that the basic ingredients must be the same as the original. Where they may differ is in the component or filler make-up.

I have been getting sumatriptan, the generic of imitrex for over a year now. The only thing I do differently is that I take it with one tablet of aleve. Works no differently than the imitrex at all.

If you can get generics, don't be afraid of the sumatriptan.

Thank you yarnlover! This pharmacy in England only offers sumatriptan the generic for Imitrex. That was also a concern for me when I first started looking at it. I'm going to see about getting the generic from Walgreens as I sure is has to be cheaper, I hope!

I order my DH's prescription eye drops from a canadian pharmacy as no generic available yet in the US. The bottle is 2.5 m., about a 1/2 teaspoon and costs $100!! I can get 3 bottles for that $90. He's been using them for over 2 years with no bad side effects. They do come from the UK. But he is extremely pleased as he does not have insurance of any kind to cover medications.

I use eye drops for glaucoma. A bottle that lasts a month is 78 dollars in the U.S. Or I can order online from a Canadian pharmacy and get the identical drug for 18 dollars.

I order an allergy medication for my employer's wife that is no longer available here in our area. I order from one of the online Canadian pharmacies. It seems to be the only allergy medication that really works for her, and she believes she is getting the "real" thing. Been ordering it for a couple of years now, with absolutely no problems.

About drops for eyes. Five years ago I had cataract surgery which went badly, and now I have glaucoma. Since then until about 3 months ago, I have been given Istalol samples at the eye doc's office. Istalol is something like $125.00 for a small bottle which lasts about a month. Now they are not getting those samples so I have a Rx for the generic, Timolol.

I am just curious about which eye drops you all might be using.

I ordered a prescription about two years ago from an overseas pharmacy and am still waiting for it. Phone doesn't answer, web site down. AND i am out the money. What a bummer.

When it comes to eye drops; you name it and I've used it. I'm 54 and have been treating glaucoma for over 15 years already. It's hereditary. Timolol, Lumigan, Zalatan, and a couple more I can't recall right now. They all seem effective at first and then gradually become ineffective after a couple years and then I get switched to a new combination. Most of the 'scrips are copverd in our insurance but the Lumigan is not. That's the one I get from Canada. My right eye was bad enough that in December I had a shunt put in and now I don't need drops for that eye at all. The pressure was up to 39 using 3 different drops, now it's at 8 with no drops. (13 to 18 is normal)

As Ron said, we have been getting drugs from Canada for years and it is NOT illegal in Minnesota. The state of Minnesota posted websites in Canada that they investigated and found to be legit and that's where I got mine in the first place. For a few years Ron and I didn't have prescription coverage. The Canadian pharmacy was very easy to use. My doctor faxed my prescriptions to Canada, I contacted them and they sent them. You can get 3 months at a time (why can't you do that here?) and a 3 months supply was roughly the same price as a one month supply here. I used to use Jan Drugs.

I wonder whether some of the spam stuff that claims to be Canadian really is based here.

In the past I've offered to help some folks here find a Canadian pharmacy, but had no takers.
