Time for new eyeglasses, what kind do you wear?
Comments (47)My glasses arrived this morning. Good news and bad news. Rob, thank you for linking Eyebuy Direct, they did a GREAT job! The good news is that my vision is crisp, clear and much better than it has been for several years, with the glasses. A real difference. The bad news is that now when I look in the mirror using the new computer glasses (I got a pair of bifocals and a pair of computer glasses) I can see every eyebrow hair, pore, and unevenly applied makeup job and what I thought was an acceptable makeup job clearly is not, so I'll be spending a tad more time applying stuff....See MoreEyeglasses - Help me with choices and etiquette?
Comments (41)Thank you all. Tina, the first pair is a solid yes-- as are the sunglasses. I still need a second pair. As for buying online-- all I am considering buying online are the frames. Frames I have already chosen locally. It's not any different from trying them on and ordering from a local shop-- except the money doesn't stay local. They are new, in original packaging etc and can be returned. That said, my glasses are ALWAYS sent out for the lenses. My lenses must be specially ground. Still, I order them through the dr office where they take the proper measurements and make the necessary adjustments. smh - yes, you and my nieces! The black glasses above aren't even in the running-- but it was the best photo showing a black frame. There are others that look better.. but I went with the one that showed the color best. 1929 - excellent point! I will start with one pair first-- just because the prescription is tricky. The Dr wanted me to start with one pair.. wait a few weeks to a month and then get the others. Annie, yes your points are all valid.. but shape isn't really a decision I am struggling with. I have had lots of input and help in choosing the frame shape. I've also been wearing glasses for as long as I can remember. Don't worry that I'll go all rogue LOL! While my style can be a touch quirky, it's basically classic with a little funk... never the other way around. Neetsie - There is a model with tortoise shell cat eye but the stems are blue. Too much like the first pair which I am definitely ordering... and they don't have them in the store. I tried them on in the spring but they sold out. The black has black stems and a tiffany blue inside the frame. Much easier to distinguish. I guess I should have shared that since I will be switching from computer/reading glasses to walking around glasses-- even to just go to the bathroom, I want them to be different and distinguishable. Even meetings will be a challenge as I will need one pair to read.. and another to see someone across the table. I am hoping I can adapt to that well enough to not need to constantly switch back and forth and distract others. I guess some would prefer the two to look similar so it wasn't obvious they were wearing two pairs glasses. I guess I can mull that around. practigal - my mom says the same thing about Costco. I haven't tried them as they are no longer convenient to me. I can always check to see if they carry the brands that have been consistently working well for me. Thank you ALL again! You are all so sweet and helpful!...See MoreBuying eyeglasses online?
Comments (25)I go to a local optimistic. I do order my contacts through them. I didn't end up needing any adjustments for my zenni glasses. I've had glasses adjusted at other eye places. The one told me if they accidentally break they weren't responsible. Thankfully that didn't happen. A friend took her glasses (bought locally) to a different place and they adjusted hers too. Yeah the pd won't be on the glasses. That's dimensions for the frame I believe- there's info about that on zenni too. I had to ask for my prescription and for them to give me my pd. I could tell they weren't thrilled but they did it anyhow. The same place gave Dh a hard time about the pd. Well, front desk girl did. But like I said it's easy to find it out yourself....See MoreEyeglasses with different shaped lenses
Comments (76)My house reflects me, yes-or at least whatever can be described as me..to a degree I can do that, given there are other people inabiting it too)) I'm the most stubborn and sure of myself when it comes to houses-because I guess that's when one can have total control without devastating others too much. But I can't supress them either..it's their place too. And needs to reflect them too. First of course I had to think-what is it, that "me", that I want it to reflect? In a new house? Because things change, a bit or a lot, depends-and I want to "write" the changes onto my house as much as I want to "write" something that never ever changed and never will I love folk and fairy tales and animals and books and flowers and strange creatures and portraits. I always loved all that I just realized that what won't be authentic right now to me -is the happy ending which most-not all- fairy tales have. The rest stays. So I thought and thought (and opened once a thread btw which helped me a lot) and narrowed it down to a single word that's fitting-and went ahead It's still not exactly what I want it to be That's largely because I consider "wanting" by itself a certain luxury. Lately. It means I'm in a darn good mood if I really want something related to the house. And also because of some other things..I won't go into it because I aleady take too much space and I'm not sure I 'm even conveying my thoughts in a good way As for wardrobe-well I'm a moody person, so I have love for many things. Some parts of it are pretty classic simple stuff, some-bohemian, some-quirky or deconstructed I dislike formal attire-it can look amazing btw, I still dislike the idea- and everything that I have to think about too much after I put it on. I do care-I just don't want to care once it's on me. I guess pretty much same with the house. I do care..I just don't want to care too much. I like patina, and handmade stuff, and assymetry, and if the lines are all on the same level)say art-and door, or window frame) it irritates me..it doesn't when it's other people's place, but in mine, it does And I like to mix stuff intentionally sometimes, or put art intentionally low, or off My husband likes symmetry so all the issue of art placement-whatever takes normal folks 15 minutes can take us several hours. ok I stop myself here because I'm not even sure I'm answering the question lol but yes it's a fun thread, and I'm grateful you opened it Friday (I don't even know what's my favorite day of the week is, anymore. Probably Friday too..Used to be Saturday)...See Moreilikefriday
