We're having a BAD storm

It's finally settled down, but for about 45 minutes we were under a tornado warning--not a watch. They broke in on our NBC channel to show where the worst of it was and it was right HERE! I had just toasted an English muffin so I took it to the closet with me--haha! Harry was napping but only about 4 feet from me if I needed to get him up fast. I have to admit I haven't been that afraid of a storm since I was a kid. It was very dark and dumped a ton of water. Funnel clouds spotted all around.

Now the whole state is under tornado watch with more storms coming all day today and tomorrow. Guess it's that time of year.

Patti, I hate storms like that. My Mom was deathly afraid of thunder, so whenever we had a storm like that she refused to touch any electrical appliances or metal, not even a pair of scissors or the telephone. Also, Patti, which state are you in?

thank you all for the welcomes and support. And yes, Bradford Pears are very popular ans pretty. but very weak in my opinion. Like I said, mine was one of the few that hadn't already had some previous storm damage if not completely ruined. I can say though that another one in the neighborhood came down that same night and it hit both their house and Jeep! My advice for anyone that likes these trees is to NEVER plant one anywhere near your home or where you park your cars!!!

Yeh, IL always seems to get more coverage for another. We have 2 towns, one just 10-12 miles away heavily damanged. But the town is much smaller, and we don't ask for lots of help. It was hit by the same one that almost destroyed a middle school. The school and the adjoining one is not able to have class for at least 6 months to 1 year. Luckily, one HUGE church has volunteered their building for K-6, and the 7-8 grade will fit into another school that is over-populated, but will work around it. IL is less than 50 miles from me.

Thanks everybody! LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one suffering the echo effect right now. I found out today that my furniture's not coming until mid-November!! Also, what really worked for us and our cats was to lock them in one of the bedrooms while we moved. Then after everybody had left and we were getting ready for bed, that's when we actually let them out. It was quiet all night for them while they got to explore their new home. Charliedawg, I saw your pics very soon after you moved in and am jealous how you got rid of your boxes so quickly. I must have re-organized my kitchen a 100 times already lol. Here's a cute picture! Somebody better explain to Duke that he is a CAT and not a MONKEY lol.

I'm in Florida, Jannie. Yesterday it was a sunny 78 degrees and we had the air conditioner on in the car. I could've used another one like that one.

Glenda, you'd think most of the water would be gone by the time that storm got here--haha! How much rain did you get?

Thank you, Mariend. Around 3 p.m. the sun came out, but it's cloudy again now.

A confirmed 5 inches, yesterday.

On way to senior center, they had signs saying WATER ON ROAD. Had receeded by the time I passed.

Oh, I have sat in the bathtub several times, when I lived in my house. Once you could hear the winds ripping parts of the roof off. Now that was scary.

I did go to sit in bathroom, once, last tornado season. First time since being in condo.

FIVE inches of rain!? That's a LOT. They're predicting we get a lot over the weekend here in my part of Ohio, but I'm praying we don't. The snow is finally starting to go away, but the ground is way overly saturated....can't take rain on top of that.

The tornadoes missed us yesterday but we had a five minute hail storm which means the car has to go in for a check up now with pings all over it

Creeks and streams are already high in my area, lots of standing water in the fields too; like gadgets mentioned, we're suppose to get rain for five days straight?
