Boos Cutting Boards/Worth the $$ ?

I saw a John Boos maple butcher block cutting board - reversible w/ gravy trough on one side, solid on the other on sale for $99.00 in a local store's flyer.

I have granite & soapstone countertops and confess that I usually do all my chopping and prep on those thin plastic (color coded by food type)cutting mats.

I like using them because I can fold them up and easily transport my chopped foods from my island right into the cooking pots. They're also easy to wash and dry and I can have a few going at a time - the yellow for cutting up a chicken, the green for veggies, blue for grating cheese, etc.

I don't have a large cutting board for carving the TG turkey, which is why the Boos board caught my eye. But we rarely cook and carve large meat roasts, so it doesn't seem worth the expense just for that.

I have heard that it's much better to use a wood board for the sake of my good knives, though. Just wondering if any of you have a Boos board and if you think it's worth the investment. If so, what do you think is the most practical size? Thanks!
