We drink our Mint Juleps out of silver mint julep cups...we would never know the difference if it was cloudy at the bottom. LOL! 4 fresh mint sprigs 2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey 1 tsp powdered sugar 2 tsp water Muddle mint leaves, powdered sugar, and water in a collins glass. Fill the glass with shaved or crushed ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw.

Wow, I haven't thought of simple syrup in years! My mother used to make it to mix with lemon juice as a base for punch. She'd add club soda & some sort of fruit juice, I remember cranberry being a favorite. It made a sort of "soda" which we kids appreciated because she never bought soda from the store. It sounds great for iced tea...but my husband and I drink so much iced tea in the summer I don't even want to think about how much weight we'd put on if we used real sugar. I keep a 4 quart container of iced tea and a 4 quart container of Crystal Lite Lemonade in the fridge all summer just for the two of us. Mixing them sweetens the tea and cuts the sweetness of the Crystal Lite..very refreshing.

Like FOAS, I only make it when I know I'm going to use it. About the only thing I use it in is homemade lemonade and Sangria. I keep what is left in the fridge for a week and if I haven't used it up by then it gets tossed. Only takes minutes to make. I use equal parts water and sugar and usually make a one cup batch at a time. Ann

I did most of my research before those wonderful sites became available, and the best tip I received was to have a different color folder for each grandparent--you've got 4, so 4 different colors. I started the pedigree charts w/ my grandparent b/c I had so much info I started to fill those up and run out of space. I've been to several workshops and you can learn a lot from other folks, but the different colored folders really helps! Good luck. I've been to a workshop on FamilyTreeMaker and I think there's someone here that uses that. I haven't gotten it, but it looked almost too good to be true!!
