I'm here....Latest on Mom

Hi guys,

Mom made it through the procedure as you know, which is miraculous. Her surgical team is amazed at her will to live.

She rested all nite, and is responsive. Her eyes opened briefly and she's responding to commands. So the possible stroke doesn't seem to have happened. In fact they are talking about removing her breathing tube in the next couple of days. She's breathing on her own, it's just to make sure it's constant.

They are doing another CT on her abdomen this morning.

This abscess/tumour, whatever the hell it is is affecting her organs and arteries. Truth is, even though she may survive this latest bout of hemorraghing, it's just a matter of time before something else erupts. Her whole artery is weakened.....it's going right through the abscess.

The doctors are reluctant to do anything with the abscess; they don't want to disturb it. If it's cancerous they don't want it to burst and flood her with poisons.

She's a remarkably resilient woman, but we as a family have to come to terms, that she's not going to get better. She's only going to worsen.

I can't imagine life without Mom, but it's going to be. No one should ever out-live their children, that's a given, but I don't want my Mom to die either. Hell, no one should have to die.

Once again, I want to thank you all. Your prayers and good thoughts mean the absolute world to me.

JASDIP...your Mom is an amazingly strong woman. She's proven that! YOU are her daughter, flesh of her flesh..bone of her bone, and because of that, you can and will face whatever is to come. You will be given strength you didn't know was possible, because you haven't needed it until now!

Your Mom, you and your Family are in my Prayers!!

Morning, Either my computer is messed up or GW is having problems. I opened this thread a few mins ago. I wanted dh to see Tropic's gold Mantis. The pic didn't show. I thought I was losing it. lol. Also, I replied to Cactus Boss and Asleep last night before shutting down. My thread is gone! WTH? Cactus Boss, does GW have a Mantid forum? Nope, no crickets..no live food. :) Asleep, we have doors, of course, but the rooms are so small we leave them open. Actually, although mantis are beautiful and might make good pets, they're better off outdoors. Just my opinion. Cockatiels. Poor 'tiels are in danger outdoors, too..farmers in Australia shoot them so the birds stay out of their seed. Which is understandable. So, if they don't get shot, they know what to eat to survive. God protects the innocents. Think I mentioned watching mantis vids on Youtube. Some were gross..a poor mantis being attacked by a cat, while 'humans!' taped. I felt so bad for that mantis. I'd like to beat the FXXX out of the ppl who shot the video. BTW, Asleep, I'm a non-violent person. lol. Tropic, that's right, it's winter in your location. What month does summer begin? To be honest, before starting this thread, I had no idea mantis molted. I've learned a lot about mantis since getting the egg cases. 'including, egg 'case' ID. When they molt, do they shed like a snake or bird? Or neither? Wonder where your gold mantis family is staying?? I should do more research. For instance, after mom lay the egg cases does she take off, leave the eggs/babies to fend for themselves? And where is dad? Does he skip town? lol I wonder if your gold mantis sees you prowling around at night while he/she is prowling. lol, and what he/she thinks. If they think. Wonder if they think, 'as we know/use the thought process,' or eat/drink/mate through sense. I hope gold mantis stays in your yard..perhaps you can take photos as he/she matures. If it's not too much trouble. Cleaning its arms..At least mantis sense hygiene is important. Tropic, you live in a beautiful area. I truly envy you. On the other hand, for all the beauty around you, I imagine insects/spiders are 5-times larger. :) Toni

Oh Emerald sounds about as happy as Chico! It was one of those stupid things where there was one layer inside the bulb that was black! That's why cleaning up a bulb makes me nervous when you clean up the neck and you see one dark layer. Are we just getting poorer bulbs? This happened to me with new bulbs this year too. Melusine was only 1 year old and never did much, so I'm guessing that this could have been the problem from Day 1. Sigh...it's hard to figure out what you can't see, that's why I cut her. The bulb seemed solid, but when I gave a gentle squeeze, liquid bubbled from the top. I had visions of her being rotten to the core. It was actually a lot better than I imagined and the 4 pieces are pretty big and just less a few layers. K

I find fennel to be most attractive to BST in my yard. I gave 19 eggs and caterpillars to a teacher friend. She said the students were really enjoying watching them grow. She divided the eggs between the second grade teachers. Then, I was able to find another 14 for myself. I collect them ASAP as eggs. I take the fennel sprig with the egg and place those into a deli plastic container. Small holes in the lid, insert the sprig through the hole into the water. I usually recut the bottom of the sprig before I place it in the water. I monitor the water level in these containers. It takes a good 5 days for the eggs to hatch. By the time the eggs hatch, they need some fresh fennel. I use another deli container and place that near them so that they can crawl over to fresh food. If they don't move, I carefully snip the piece of plant that they are on and place that on the fresh fennel.

Four years ago we went to get a female Mini-labradoodle. She was the runt of the litter, apricot in color. She was shy but very smart. My hubby went in the pen and squatted down - over comes one of the siblings - a black male. He "lays" himself over my DH who looks up at me and says, you should always take the one that picks you. Three hours and many dollars later, we signed contracts for both. It was our wedding anniversary so we gave each other a puppy. They are both here by me now. Andi, the female is still smarter (she's on the soft bed). Amos, her bro, is on the floor. They are the best natured dogs - always wanting to please and so loving. They are totally different in some ways - Andi will pull and tug on a toy. Amos has the soft mouth of a lab and will not tug but will retrieve a ball 1000 times a day if you throw it for him. Training two at once was interesting - to say the least but I wouldn't trade them for the world. Good luck with yours. Would love to see pics.

Thanks for the update, Jasdip. Country Bumpkin is right, you are your Mothers daughter, and we can 'see' your strength, the strength you got from her, coming through your posts. I too pray for a miracle, Sherry, one should never have to lose a loved one. . . especially a mom. She is one heck of a lady, and she has raised one strong and loving daughter.

Oh, my. I'm so sorry your mom and you children are having to go through this terrible struggle. If there truly is no hope, have you considered telling your mom it's ok to let go? You'll continue to have my prayers.

So sorry for your horrible news. Your Mom has been through more than most people could have tolerated. She is amazingly strong. So sad for you and your family that she is suffering so. I cannot say that I know what it feels like to lose one's mother, as I still have mine. But I did watch my Dad die, and I know some of the feelings you are having. It is one of the most difficult parts of life. I am praying for you and your family.

Oh my aches for you and your family , what an incredible ordeal your Mom is going through. Thanks for sharing her picture, she is a very young looking senior. We can pray for miracles can't we.
