Yes I do....I am a worrier by nature. I wish I wasn't. I try to let things roll off my back and not worry about things out of my control....but that is easier said than done for me.

Absolutely!!! I hate the fact that I do and have tried to change, but I find it impossible. I know if I worried less I would allievate many medical issues that I have. I worry about the stupidest things sometimes that it's laughable.

My biofeedback therapist reminds me "If there is a solution to a problem then why worry. If there is no solution, then why waste the energy". Easier said than done!!

I can't stop worrying. I should make a list, hey, now I'm worried because I didn't make a list.

Oh yeah. I used to get irritated with my Mom, because
she worried so much (I think she worried if,at times, there
wasn't much to worry about). And, now, I have become
my Mom.

yes I do. I worry how something will affect the future, even when I'm not the one who should be worrying about it.
Often I feel frustrated and angry about it and that's what bothers me the most. I try to back off and remain calm but it can be so frustrating just standing back watching a train wreck.

I use to tell my kids that old saying,, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I tell them do things right the first time or quit wasting time, but they sure have their own agenda! It's hard to stop worrying or being concerned. I love the serenity prayer and say it often.

oh definately! thats me to a T. because i cant keep my big mouth shut, no matter how hard i try, and i really do try more often than not i find myself right in the middle of a big old mess!!!

Not really, but I'm not a worrier. For the most part, I figure that I can handle the worst-case scenario of everything I might worry about. If it's something I can't handle - and also something I have no control over - then I don't want to think about it.

My dad was an anxious person and a worrier, and my mom was not. It used to drive him crazy that she'd go to bed when we kids were out as teenagers, but she'd always say that if something happened, the phone would wake her - and she'd be better rested.

I'm not sure it's a choice, though. I don't think my dad *could* stop worrying. Later in life, his doctor prescribed Ativan for his anxiety, which was enormously helpful. I always think about how much more pleasant his life would have been had it been available earlier on.

Btw, I'm certainly not saying that everyone who worries should go on meds.

No, I don't even worry about things I AM responsible for! If I can do something to make the situation better, I do it. If I can't, I ignore it as much as possible. Worrying takes up too much time and energy, and I'd rather use my time and energy in a different way.

No I don't. My sister is a big worrier and I tell her she's being silly worrying about things she can't change, but she worries anyway. I don't waste my time on it.

Actually, I don't understand "worrying." I can only make decisions and take action that affects me, no one else. I can't live another person's life.

I do rely on the message of the Serenity Prayer. It is the best advice there is.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Once I have the facts of a situation, I use common sense and logic to make a decision. After that it is out of my hands.

What is the fine line between concern and worry?

I am concerned about happenings in the world that will affect the life of my DGD and all of the next generation, but I do not keep it on my mind constantly. I think maybe worry is when a thing absolutely will not leave your mind.

Yes--at work. I just can't ignore the detail-oriented stuff that others can't be bothered with or just don't know about (the latter is a rare situation!). I end up just fixing this stuff and not even bothering to clue them in. And that certainly doesn't benefit my standing there, either. Every so often, I say to myself that "today I'm just going to let that stuff be"--but I give in too easily. Just can't bear to see work done poorly.

I'm a worrier, with a deep sense of anxiety about an expected disaster that, in reality, never comes. I'm from a long line of worriers (tho my grandmother, the champion worrier of all and who had a nervous breakdown at age 19, lived to age 102!!) I think those blessed with little anxiety have a hard time understanding those who live with it constantly and vice versa.

No I'm not. In most situations I think 'will this still be important to me a year from now'-usually no. Not that anyone can help it, but I bet its bad for your health to be worked up frequently.

I really try not to worry but I can't help it. I don't worry about things that aren't my responsibility, I just worry something bad is going to happen to people I care about. I know worrying makes NO differences at all, and logically I know I shouldn't, but I can't stop myself. If someone is late, or I haven't heard from them, etc...I'm always worried they got in a car wreck, plane wreck, blah blah blah.

I used to...then years ago I was invited to a meditation class by a friend..I enjoyed it so much, but it taught me to let things go if I can't change it, now I live by "what will be will be" it is a freeing feeling if you can let it all go.

Worry, concern, caring....whatever it may be called, when it comes to the welfare of those I love the most, then my answer is yes.

Right now a granddaughter's life is threatened and she is undergoing surgery as I type. Worried....concerned...you bet I am, waiting anxiously for a call from our daughter.

gwanny2three, that must have been SOME kind of meditation class! LOL Twinkie and I both are so bad that we occasionally remind each other, "Hey, they're not our kids, not our worry!" LOL (This can be about almost anybody, any age.) We're horrible.

I'm not a worrier. There are probably a thousands things I could worry about, but I can't make myself worry. Sure, I think about things I am responsible for, find a solution, make a plan. But that's not worry, that "get 'er done." I am concerned about keeping my teaching job next year b/c of budget cuts and the fact that I rank low having just started. But all I can do is my best, let it be known that I want to stay, and let things happen. So I am not even really worried about that. What will be, will be. If I sub again and wait for another opening, so be it.

But things I can't control, or just don't need to control, nope. People tell me their problems, even family (my brother has a doozy right now that my parents are dragged into) but I am not responsible for that and really don't give it much thought unless I am talking with my mom and listening to her vent. I just let her vent and move on. I have concern for people, but it's not worry.

There are a couple exceptions. I worry about my teen driving. That feeling is really what I call worry- obsessive thought about potential bad turn out over something I cannot control. That still freaks me out. One news story about a teen killed in a car accident and my mind loses control.

If you trust that others are capable and that you can only do what you can do, worrying falls by the wayside. And then you have energy for productive things!

Stephanie_in_ga, what you said about your son is true for my niece (who lives with me and is like my daughter). I always say that I never knew what it meant to be afraid until Chloe was born.

I finally realized what a toll it was taking on me. Holding me back from doing things and causing me to miss the things I could control. A Waste of Energy.

So no, I've learned not to worry so much about things I can't control, although I do sometimes feel bad about things I see.

I don't really *worry* about things excessively (my MIL is like that, it makes it very stressful just to be around her, constant doom and gloom about all the way everything can kill you). But I am someone who takes on things that need to get done. I am the organizer, do-er, etc. I can't stand just winging it. Am am very detail oriented and a bit of a control freak. My husband would tell you I am a total control freak, my control freak father would tell you I am normal!

Yes I am and sad to say I have lost way too many friends over it. If only I could go back. My mom was a control person and guess I am her daughter.
