I thought we'd finally get to see what you look like, and then you put a garden sprinkler where your head should be. Don't you wonder sometimes what we all look like, these people we chat with every day?

Michelle is not the only one laughing. I am just about rolling on the floor laughing over this posting. I know just what you mean and have no idea what I am going to resort to taking pictures of after those poor daylilies quit blooming. Before daylily season I do lots of pictures of roses so I am happy and amused. After daylily season, nothing seems to be happening.

Debra, You had me laughing as well! It is hard to imagine the end when you are still totally in the whirl of bloom season. Even on an off day, I am out for at least 45 minutes after work capturing the blooms of the day. There are so many other things I should be doing (for example, I just finished making dinner and it's quarter after ten our time...fortunately DH is tolerant!). I too will have to eventually clean my house, but not today!!!!

I was laughing so hard, that I forgot to say they are really great photos - I LOVE using that black background. Certianly makes the edges POP off the page.

It really struck me as funny, because we all do it! It's like "NOW what????" LOL... too cute.

So true we all go thru this...so this is when I start looking and thinking how to maybe rearrange things in the fall. Maybe this one might look really cool next to so and so. And I am already doing trades for wonderful new ones to look forward to next year!! Don't have many $$ to spend buying new DL's this year.

So funny, Debra...I know exactly how you feel about the loss of your photo models! But I have been busy with my daylily seeds and preparing the seedling bed. I have to cull, renourish the soil, find a place to plant the seedlings I've kept (which means rearranging the beds), change the water in the seedling cups that are germinating, plant the seeds in cups (because the seedling bed isn't ready). I need to get it all done by Sept. if I want to see any blooms on this batch of seedlings next year. So, I don't really get a break until Oct.

Love the new photos. I didn't know your husband was a professional! No wonder your pics are always so good...you have a private tutor. But it looks like the student has surpassed the teacher this go round....your pic of MOONLIGHT SAIL is perfect.

Kay and Kathy - It's been so wonderfully cool here for the past few days that I've been doing some planting and gardening projects. Today I planted part of a large circle garden I've been planning for two years. Eleven feet in diameter, it's in full sun where I had a tree cut down. I had to wait until the tree roots rotted to plant. The tree limbs were chpped and the chips have now composted into the soil. It makes a fabulous planting medium. I put in one third perennials that attract butterflies and hummingbirds this morning. One third of the garden will be double daylilies, and the other third will be mega reblooming daylilies. I'm trying to take advantage of the sun and well drained soil to get as much rebloom as possible.

Debra, your new garden bed sounds wonderful. I love when I see butterfly gardens planted but here, I do have many butterfly attracting plants but they are scattered all around and not in any particular area. I have 5 butterfly bushes, two stands of Joe Pie Weed. Purple Coneflowers, Butterfly Weed and Milkweed plus annuals that I plant each year that they like such as Mexican Sunflower, zinnias, Cosmos and what not.

kay- Sounds like too great projects. I wish I had an unused garden bed I could renovate and another iris bed sounds great also.

Rita - Those sound like good butterfly attracting plants. I have two butterfly bushes in my island bed and purple coneflowers in one of my borders. I have grown zinnias and cosmos before, and they were excellent butterfly attractors.

Here's what I've put in the new bed:
Turn Of The Century hardy hibiscus (1)
A new lantana that is hardy to my area called Chapel Hill Yellow(3)
Rajun Cajun ruella(2), a red hummingbird attractor - a tender perennial that is supposed to overwinter in my zone.
Garden phoxes Bright Eyes and David (3)
Becky Shasta daisy (1)
Rudebeckia goldstrum (1)
Homestead purple verbena (2)
Aster Viking Star (1)
I would like to add some sedum, cosmos and zinnias, but I'm already running out of room for daylilies!!!

I'll have to post some photos of the new bed when I get it all planted.

Debra, please do post pictures, I would love to see it. I have verbena too and some lantana. Only annual here. And then if you also count hummer attractors then Salvia Indigo Spires, Black and Blue, lots of hummingbird mints (love them) and many vining honeysuckles. I guess it seems like I have only shrubs, roses, lilies and daylilies but I have lots of other things here too. I have many upright sedums and some phlox. Don't ask me how it all fits!

Rita - I've been thinking about adding the Black and Blue salvia. I looked at it over the weekend. I also saw some Blue Hill salvia that was very tempting.

Both those salvias, Black and Blue and Indigo Spires are annual for me, die over the winter. Not sure if they would overwinter for you or not.

This was such a fun thread to read through. I laughed and laughed....and more so when Rick pointed out the caption above your hubbys pic. Moonlight Sail sure does look fantastic with that black background. The black really makes the colors pop.
