your eyes doing???

I hesitated about posting this, because I didn't want to frighted anyone contemplating having Cataract surgery. I've been having problems with my second surgery. I guess she (the surgeon) had some problems removing the cataract and left some abrasions on my cornea. There was some discomfort the first day and the drops burned like he!!. I went in the next day and she put a "bandaid" lens on the eye, something like a contact lens, and the discomfort and burning went away. I wore the lens for 4 days, then she took it out.The eye feels OK, but things are still fuzzy in that eye. My other eye cleared up before a week and it is going on two weeks for this eye. I have an appointment to see her in two weeks, and hopefully this eye will clear up by then. Hubs and 4 friends had this done in the past year with absolutely NO complications, so if you are thinking of having this done, please know I''m not known for doing things the easy way. LOL Dottie

I'm so sorry you had a problem and I'm glad it is getting better. I know from the reading I've done a scratch will heal in about 2 weeks and the vision should be cleared again very shortly. I'll toss up an extra healing prayer or 3 for you.
Thanks for asking about my eyes. I had the second surgery and it went fine. I developed an allergic reaction to one of the antibiotic drops after 3 days which inflamed the eye and caused burning, itching and swelling. My problem since I am very allergic to so many antibiotics even topical. The reaction finally cleared up after the drops were stopped. Now I flush the eye with sterile water a few times a day and use a different drop. I just came back from my Eye Doc and everything is great. I still have to use the "BORG" eye shield at night for the next week but only to protect the left eye from being irritated if I rub it in my sleep and continue with the new drops till they are gone. I have 20/20 distance in both eyes and will only require reading glasses (off the shelf) to read. Even had I known there would be a problem I wouldn't Not have the surgery even with the complication of the allergic reaction. I feel like a new woman. Being able to see without the heavy foggy blur of the cataracts is so wonderful. Not using glasses all the time is teriffic. I've had to wear them since I was 16. I forget once in a while and look for my glasses before I realize "I can see."
I would tell anyone needing the cataract surgery to "Go for it!" The complications we've had are very unusual and the benefits of seeing again are so worth what ever it takes.
My only issues with new 20/20 vision are "MY Goodness when did I get so much gray hair and all these wrinkles?" and "How long have all those cob-webs been growing in my house?" LOL So when I get my okay to do the heavy lifting and bending I'll have to get to SPRING CLEANING and then spend a day at the spa salon. Massage, facial, mani/pedi, multiple hair treatments along with a cut and new style. All that is the DH's anniversary gift to me. How wonderful he is.

Lil, thanks, so much for responding and giving me some chuckles. I'm glad things are going well for you, eye-wise and elsewhere. It sounds like you have a 'keeper' for a hubby. What a nice gift. How many years for you two? I had a good friend, who said, after she had the surgery on her eyes, and looked in the mirror, My God, do my eye brows ever need plucking!!!! LOL Dottie

Looks to me like Orange-Fleshed Purple Smudge. They are high in cis-lycopene. I grew them this year. Started too many and placed several free seedlings out by the mailbox with a sign "Free Tomatoes". Cheryl - This is NOT a good approach - they "have superior knowledge"! Even if the grower is super - duper - pooper experienced - his conditions are different, his methods are different, you need to tweak the method - not immediately copy - and NOT on all plants at once. This is a recipe for disaster - and we all make this mistake every so often. Your intuition is on a top as usual, you should trust yourself more - looks like plants speak to you, VB soil is very heavy on vermiculite. They do use mats, but they do not use wicks. They put these solo cups on a surface of the mat - and rub the pot in - so there is a contact between the soil and the mat through the hole in a bottom. They always ask customers NOT to pick plants off the shelf - because they lose this contact and the pots dry. Anyway - their soil will work with bottom watering - but won't work with wicks. It will be too soggy, You have work to do tomorrow. Fix your own soil - whatever you normally use - Promix Bx or Miracle Grow - (Bx is better) and split is with 30% medium to coarse perlite or with 50% for MG soil. Take your plants out of the pots - and carefully brush as much VB soil as you can. Pot them back with a new soil. If you are not ready to do it now - move plants to saucers. Oh, Lars, I hope you aren't referring to my comment about moving to Seattle. I didn't mean to insult you, was only commenting that you will be happy to not move to Seattle, because you seem to hate it so and the fewer people who move here, the happier that makes many of us in the PNW. Housing and traffic are atrocious already and more people moving in are not going to help. Used to be people who moved here did so because they loved it and embraced it. Now, it seems that so many are moving in and have no regard for what it was that drew them here. I can only imagine what might have happened to you on a visit to Seattle that branded a whole city as rude. That obviously hasn't been the experience of the majority of people or else we wouldn't be struggling with rampant growth and have been since the success of Microsoft started a lot of it. I was just getting ready to ask you how your eyes were doing. I was surprised to see the post directed to me I think we are on the same wave length. I feel that laughter is very much a channel for healing body and mind and we should try to find something to laugh about everyday. I can laugh at my own expense and if I help someone else to laugh also I'm happy.
Yes my DH is a keeper and I've managed to keep him a happy satisfied man for 29 yrs this coming May 9th. He has been my best friend and Prince Charming nearly since the first day we met. I know I am a very lucky woman to have him.

I wish I had the lower candle power bulbs B4 I saw the damage to my face and hair or the cobwebs. Its too late to turn down now. I know its there and it will drive me buggy. I could wait till after Halloween to clean house and fix my hair I wouldn't have to decorate or get a costume. But the medicine to keep me from going nutz in that time would offset any savings.
