"ps..I wish there was a way to mark posts that one wants to go back to..." There actually is a way. If you look to the right of each post, there's a link that says "clip this post." If you click on that, you can save it to your clippings list. To go to your list, you just go to your member page and select "See my clippings."

The carpenter is here today removing the old carpeting and fixing up the disastrous moulding work (or lack thereof) that the builder created before he carpeted the stairs, risers and stringers. My plan is to re-wrap the stairs, but finish the stringers with mouldings and paint. Then I plan to paint and stain the handrails and spindles of the staircase. There were posts in the past with pictures showing success stories - painted and stained oak railings. I can't find these posts and I need instructions for prepping, the type of paints/stains to use etc. Can the OPs repost or can someone point me in the right direction? In return, I will post before and after pictures!! Many thanks....!!!!
