replacing old facia and rake/barge boards

We are getting a new roof and replacing all our old rotted facia and barge/rake boards with preprimed whiteboards. Two questions:

1) do most people put the textured side toward the street or the smooth side? Our current trim boards are smooth - we have 10" beveled cedar siding on the body of the house. I've seen it done both ways.

2) I'm leaning towards SW Duration paint - some sort of a low luster sheen. Color - antique white. I plan to paint all trim boards before they are put up (front, back and lower edge). Any tips/suggestions before I begin brushing/rolling out all those boards? Is the preprimed primer good enough? Will I need 2 coats? I really do not want to repaint this trim anytime soon as some parts of the trim will require scaffolding to reach.

Thanks in advance for your tips! Diane
