My 15 month has figured out the cupboard locks!

Hello. My 15 month son has found out how to open the locks on our cupboards. They are the kind where you have to push down on the latch and then it opens. Does anyone have any different kind of locks that work? Thank you.

i use the ones that go on the outside and link your two doors together. you have to push down one part to slide it off the other parts. i like them because once ds is in bed, i can take them off and use the doors like a normal person again. my 16mo old pulls at them, but hasn't opened them yet.

My son figured all of the plastic locks out by 18 months, including the ones mentioned by Adrienne_11. We have moved all of the "bad" things to a few higher cabinets and put a combo lock on that, and pretty much taught him not to go into the others by saying "no, no, you're not supposed to go in there". This way, if he ever goes exploring in the upper cabinets, he'll never get it open, and we have a place that is definately OOB. You can never tell what they are going to do. My son is 3 and my daughter is 16 months. She doesn't bother with the cabs or drawers because we have told her no. He, when he was younger, tried as hard as he could to get into everything. We bought all kinds of child safe locks, and he figured every last one out. He's pretty smart, and likes to explore. But, now, he has a better understanding of what is a no no. It's just when they explore. They may never go in the cabinets and then one day, all of the sudden, there they are, on a step stool, climbing up on the cabinets, pulling out the china. We just know that the chemicals are dangerous, and some other things, that's what we keep locked up. We don't want to find out the hard way that my son found the drano.

Even your back yard seems...off...somehow, but it might be the camera used to take the shot. Suffiie to say there's something I don't like about the patterning and color. Can you get us a closeup of the dead grass in the patch out front, as well as the border between dead and green? Offhand it doesn't look like summer patch or brown patch, but we'd need more data to make sure. Do you happen to have a recent soil test? It's OK if not, as soil chemistry won't usually cause edges and patches like that, but I'm curious. Is that a southern or southwestern exposure in that front photo? Those two tend to be the driest and most blasted in summer, and I have trouble with one section that tilts southwest myself. In the dry patches, try the Screwdriver Test--take a flat-headed screwdriver and drive it into the soil. See how far it can go before it gives very high resistance to pushing. Try that in the green areas and see if there's a difference. Sample around. I have one thing you can easily and cheaply try if you already have a sprayer. Put any really incredibly cheap shampoo (I like Suave, apple scent) in the sprayer, and spray it on the lawn at 1 tablespoon per gallon. The standard 16 oz Suave container should go about 4,000 square feet, but don't worry if it goes more or less. It's hard to overdo shampoo on the lawn and gardens. Then water regularly. Calm down, Sue. I hope you don't feel I was flaming you because I sure didn't mean to. I was saying I hated last minute customers when I was in the restaurant business so I don't go late. Even though I agreed with you, I still had some sympathy for the employees. The bottom line is you are right, and no one can dispute that even if their answers weren't quite as matteroffact as the simplicity of the subject. The sign said 8:30, so the door should not be locked until 8:30. To each their own in the way they do things. I don't arrive so late and others don't either, but many people do. Really not that big a deal. But, please don't let it all rile you like this. Not everyone agrees is all.

Septic has been pumped twice in last 1.5 months

Hello, My name is Sylvie, I bought my first home a year ago. I have been having major problem with the house so far. whenever it rains, water comes inside my basement from under the toilet. I have pumped out my septic 3 time in less than a month. actually I just pumped it out again on Thursday and today is Friday and its already fill up again. according to the county, my septic tank are only 3 years old. there were installed back in 2015, however they have no record on the drain field. I applied for a work order permit to have them come out and check the problem. the county came with the same contractor that installed the septic tank and did a perc test. the couldn't locate my drain field (not sure why) according to the county, the recommend a mound system because where i live, the water level is so high. I decided to temp turn my septic tank into a holding tank because whenever they come out to empty it, you can hear the water gushing back inside. the other contractor that came out emptied the tank and turned it into a holding tank, however i can still hear little water coming inside, but the guy told me it was the water from the top and it should be fine. they did said something to me that was kind of strange. they said my septic system didn't have a filter and something else didn't install properly. my questions: 1- how can i get someone to check the field to find out where my drain field is located 2- how much will it cost? 3- why the company that installed the septic tank didn't even know where the drain field was located. 4- was turning the septic tank into a holding a good idea? since it only take 1 days to get fill up? any help or idea will be greatly appreciated. I'm at a lost when it come to Septic. have no Idea what to ask or to look for.

Kitchen has been demo for 2 months, contractor has only worked 3 days

"When our contractor called us last week to let us know he has pneumonia he told us that we could terminate the contract with him. We let our contractor know that we would like to keep the contract with him and have him complete the work." WHY? WHY WHY WHY??? This is a guy who has no clue how to schedule. At the point he was behind, he SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE YOUR DEMO. He should have given you the opt out, in FEBRUARY before the rip of the kitchen, and told YOU to delay your flooring, which could have been done after the kitchen with a simple shimming up of lower cabinetry install. Check your local area for good referrals, get your money back , and move on. In the meantime, a good contractor can give you a temporary counter space with a sink, you put the fridge somewhere with a microwave, and you have to find someone to finish the entire job.

How about those magnetic key locks?

We keep everything that DS can't be in up high; but boy, it can be a pain when he's pulled out every pot, pan, and bag of pretzels!

We got desperate and tried some unusual things. Plastic clothing hangers worked well when looped over our handles. Another thing was THICK rubber bands. The tension was too much for DS to pull off or pull the doors open.

Good Luck. Oh yes I also left the tupperware door unlocked at all times. Gave the kids a cupboard they could go into.
