My 15 month has figured out the cupboard locks!

Hello. My 15 month son has found out how to open the locks on our cupboards. They are the kind where you have to push down on the latch and then it opens. Does anyone have any different kind of locks that work? Thank you.

i use the ones that go on the outside and link your two doors together. you have to push down one part to slide it off the other parts. i like them because once ds is in bed, i can take them off and use the doors like a normal person again. my 16mo old pulls at them, but hasn't opened them yet.

My son figured all of the plastic locks out by 18 months, including the ones mentioned by Adrienne_11. We have moved all of the "bad" things to a few higher cabinets and put a combo lock on that, and pretty much taught him not to go into the others by saying "no, no, you're not supposed to go in there". This way, if he ever goes exploring in the upper cabinets, he'll never get it open, and we have a place that is definately OOB. You can never tell what they are going to do. My son is 3 and my daughter is 16 months. She doesn't bother with the cabs or drawers because we have told her no. He, when he was younger, tried as hard as he could to get into everything. We bought all kinds of child safe locks, and he figured every last one out. He's pretty smart, and likes to explore. But, now, he has a better understanding of what is a no no. It's just when they explore. They may never go in the cabinets and then one day, all of the sudden, there they are, on a step stool, climbing up on the cabinets, pulling out the china. We just know that the chemicals are dangerous, and some other things, that's what we keep locked up. We don't want to find out the hard way that my son found the drano.

I know, that's why I'm so worried my whole crop will disappear without my being able to do anything about it. This is definitely a stealth "critter." Stems are eaten right down to the ground along with the leaves, which are *not* skeletonized. The photo shows the first typical phase: large chunk gone one day, bigger chunk later or the next day, gobbled down to the grround the next, then the next leaf gets started on and when that's gone, the next plant. You know how leaf miners love spinach and chard, laying their eggs inside and killing the leaves? Well, I was wondering if anyone knew what loves to eat chard like this. Some bugs love certain things. Nothing has touched my leaf lettuce sitting right next to the chard. Whatever it is likes chard and not lettuce. I've lived here for six months now and I've never laid eyes on a rabbit. I'm home most of the day, too, and see my garden from my kitchen window.

Even your back yard seems...off...somehow, but it might be the camera used to take the shot. Suffiie to say there's something I don't like about the patterning and color. Can you get us a closeup of the dead grass in the patch out front, as well as the border between dead and green? Offhand it doesn't look like summer patch or brown patch, but we'd need more data to make sure. Do you happen to have a recent soil test? It's OK if not, as soil chemistry won't usually cause edges and patches like that, but I'm curious. Is that a southern or southwestern exposure in that front photo? Those two tend to be the driest and most blasted in summer, and I have trouble with one section that tilts southwest myself. In the dry patches, try the Screwdriver Test--take a flat-headed screwdriver and drive it into the soil. See how far it can go before it gives very high resistance to pushing. Try that in the green areas and see if there's a difference. Sample around. I have one thing you can easily and cheaply try if you already have a sprayer. Put any really incredibly cheap shampoo (I like Suave, apple scent) in the sprayer, and spray it on the lawn at 1 tablespoon per gallon. The standard 16 oz Suave container should go about 4,000 square feet, but don't worry if it goes more or less. It's hard to overdo shampoo on the lawn and gardens. Then water regularly. I see in the last picture link that bag of cactus soil. Did you amend this soil when you potted your Aloes? It doesn't look like you added much perlite or gravel to the mix, but maybe you did. This soil can compact and dry out. Once it is dry, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to get it hydrated again. Water will run around the hard dry soil, but not through it. So then your plant is not getting the water you are giving it. I have had plants appear to have nice moist soil, but the soil around the roots was compacted and dry - meaning my plant was very thirsty. The leaves on your aloes look thin, making me think your plant is not getting the water. The recent rain may have soaked through any dried soil. Let's hope so! The color doesn't concern me as much as the thin leaves. These 2 plants had pretty much the same growing conditions. The one on the right did receive more of the evening sun. That one stayed brownish, but both had the plump leaves one expects to see.

I am so loving all the dog and cat stories. It is apparent that our animals enrich our lives in many ways. Here is another story about another Granddog. My younger daughter had 2 Beagles. While visiting at her house for a weekend some years ago, I stayed with the Beagles while Daughter went to a Doctors appointment. The dogs normal supper time is 4:00 she had told me, but Molly the oldest would try to tell me at about 3:30 that it is time to eat. Don't fall for her lies and just ignore her till it is 4 o'clock, she said. Sure enough about 3:30 Molly appeared in front of me as I was reading in a comfy chair. She did a little wiggle dance and then went to her empty bowl. I continued to read without looking up. Then Molly came back and did the wiggle dance and added 2 fast spinning circles for emphasis and then back to her empty bowl again. I continued reading. Molly then came back, repeated all the other moves and next grabbed my pant leg and shook my leg briskly. Now I burst out laughing. I couldn't ignore her any longer

How about those magnetic key locks?

We keep everything that DS can't be in up high; but boy, it can be a pain when he's pulled out every pot, pan, and bag of pretzels!

We got desperate and tried some unusual things. Plastic clothing hangers worked well when looped over our handles. Another thing was THICK rubber bands. The tension was too much for DS to pull off or pull the doors open.

Good Luck. Oh yes I also left the tupperware door unlocked at all times. Gave the kids a cupboard they could go into.
