Lindac, I believe this piece was taken care of, or not "used" except for dropping things on the top & gouging it up. A couple things I notice, and I must say I build in the fashion of older furniture because its worked for a long time. First off I think some of the screws have been replaced. Four things that grab my attention are; 1. The wood inside is rough, not the least bit planed. 2. The lower aprons with the carvings are cut to a very thin edge to meet with the upper apron, typical of trying to save material, because labor was cheap & material cost $$ 3. Heavy, deep band saw cuts in not obvious areas. 4. Look at the bottom of the drawer picture, that slot tells me they knew they were using wood that was not "properly kiln dried". They used cheap as possible "green" materials where they could, but they knew how to use it so it could expand & contract. Most of the stuff I redo I can usually track down but this one is unique. Here you go, the uppers have the calander hanging on one side and emergency numbers on right door and all the office things live here. There is an outlet for charging cameras and "my" stuff. On the counter is an outlet for the land line. Antique tray is our magnet board. Top drawer has a powerstrip attached to the back for DH's electronics this is "his" drawer for keys and anything else. Bottom drawer is the coupons, and "junk" drawer as I have found it is inevitable! Basket is home for shoes. There is now a cushion on the dog kennel. The discussion would be completely different if the machine wasn't still running except for an intermittent 'cut out' problem. It's life beyond this year is in question as well as every year beyond the next year after that. If anything this is an example of just how hard my job can be 'sometimes' and yet you guys come in here and fight me for it every day. Everything is a joke to you Ray? I just find it funny what people like to fight over. I view it as getting a customer by actually fixing something. That leads to it breaking again. The same thing can and does happen to new equipment all the time. Being able to fix things is a skill. I mentioned the 8 track tape. Who here has a record collection. Who here knows what a record is? The record went away because of long rewind times? ha, ha, ha.
