Do you wear body shapers (Spanx)

I recently got tired of my muffin top hanging out so I bought a generic brand Spanx that covers me from boobs to butt. I know I should diet but in the meantime this seems to work for me. The gals on the View said they sometimes wear more than one at a time. Don't know how they can do that, but I like the fact that it smooths out the lumps and bumps. Anybody wear them?

I tried a pair once. They were okay, but I already
had NO BUTT and these made it even flatter, if that was
possible! lol Plus, I don't wear real fitted clothes
so, no more for me! lol

No yet -- but I just saw on the news that the Lady
who invented them is a rich, rich, rich lady! :)

They just remind me of the panty girdles we used to wear, and I really don't want to go there ever again! Yep me too. A girdle is a girdle no matter what name you give it. I remember when panty hose came out how liberating they were. Same with those horrible over-structured bras stitched into cones or heavily padded. Who would have thunk that girdles and stand along bras would return as something "new" for this generation of girls and women? Sadly they even have padded bras in the little girls department. What message is being sent and who sending it?

Scarlett, I fell for the same infomercial. The thing is very difficult to get on or off. The fabric is uncomfortable to me, and I agree...claustrophobic feeling. Wish I had returned mine and gotten my money back but I waited too long.

I did the panty girdle thing when it was expected back in the early sixties. Didn't matter than if you were 85 lbs. A properly dressed young lady wore them. I remember struggling back into them after gym class. We did everything we could to hide them under our shorts and even under our towels in the shower to avoid having to pull those things back on. Panty hose came along, a bit of jiggle became ok and we all tossed our girdles away. I don't care what you rename them today.Spanx,shapers whatever. They're GIRDLES.

I'm back with the review of these Justice tween shorts. So, if you are short waisted, have no hips, normal to thin legs and carry a little bit of tummy these are Great! It's stated as a 5" length but in the size I bought they are a smidge longer. They have some good stretch. The legs are just right. The fit is straight. The knit waist perfect for any little extra. They are not see-through. I'm guessing here but the size 16 1/2 seems to be a women's size 6. The size 18 1/2 seems to be around a women's size eight. I normally wear a 6 but have put on a few lbs but now dieting so I ordered one of each. If you don't want 1/2 sizes the actual size is tricky. The size 18 is smaller than the size 16 1/2. It's really best to find a store an try them on. I ordered the wrong smaller size online and paid with PayPal. Instead of sending back I took it to a local Justice store that I didn't realize was here. They do not give you your money back if you used PayPal, you get a store credit (didn't have my size in white). The number on the store credit did not work online as I was told. Online chat does not work. I was on hold for twenty five minutes before I got a person to sort it out and reorder. That part was very inconvenient!!!! Still, when I get my right size in the mail I will be happy happy as finding something to fit right is so hard.

I have a pair of Spanx to from right under your boobs to your thigh. I've only worn them for going to a wedding or somewhere I have to wear a dress. I absolutely hate it. Feels like I'm suffocating, I don't like being constricted. Anyway, I figure if people don't like my jiggly parts, don't look at them, lol.

Just when I get dressed up to smooth things out. Otherwise, I'm either in scrubs at work, or yoga pants and sweats and tee shirts at home. I do agree they are constricting, and I'm so glad I don't wear them often but a genius invention.

I keep the footless regular waist high panty hose on hand for those times I want to wear sandals or open toes shoes with dress pants, don't have much of a middle to worry about but I like a smoother look down my thighs in dressier fabrics and they work for that without being uncomfortable at all. Last year Target had a cheaper version of Spanx, better price than department stores, I assume they still do this year but I haven't needed to buy more yet.

I wore one to a wedding once. I couldn't wait to get out of it. Never again since then but I would if I needed it under dressy clothes.

Only if I have to (very occasionally, if I am wearing a dress to a formal event). I wore them for the first time last month (for a few occasions) and felt like a sausage. Very constricting.

I looked like a walking box in one. I'm not going to wear one again. I just buy larger tops. I'll be turning 61 this year and I'm just too tired to work out after I get home from work.

I recently bought a Spanx to wear under my Mother of the Bride dress to smooth out any bulges. Oddly enough, I looked thicker through the waist when wearing it! Then it occured to me that the Spanx constricts me so much that I can't suck my tummy in at all. I realized that I actually must be in the habit of keeping my tummy held in when I'm standing or walking. When I put the dress back on without the Spanx and simply tucked in my tummy, I looked slimmer around the waist than when I was wearing the Spanx. So I guess Spanx just isn't for me.

Been there /done that. Did the girdle thing back in junior high and early high school. Panty hose freed us....never looked back.

Morz8 is right about panty hose being a great light weight smoother. Women and girls today just don't get it. They look so sloppy/doughy without hose.

I don't wear dresses ever but I use hose under costumes and things.

Absolutely! Love them and would not go without them. I don't understand the feeling like a girdle, mine are as light as air, not binding or constricting at all. I wonder if whoever sold them to you fit you properly?
