Cloth training pants-What do you use?

I would like to invest in some cloth training pants. The all-in-one kind that doesn't leak. I have tried Kooshies, but they where soooooooooo bulky, I died laughing the first time I put them on my son. He looked like cupid in a diaper! They leaked to, but I think it was due to being too big for him. What other kinds are they are where can I get them? Thanks! Also, if you used cloth diapers what kind did you like?

I can only answer about diapers, since we're still using them. We have a huge array -- some SAHM-made, chinese textile prefolds, all the varietiese of kushies, dimples, carousal, and some rainbows. I prefer the kushies AIOs. Dimples are great for overnight with a dsq prefold (no leaks). We use the carousals for naps only b/c the snaps tend to pop open when ds is active.

I've seen nikki training pants in Natural Baby catalougs. I've never tried their products, and have heard mixed reviews.

Good luck - I'll be interested in reading replies b/c I HOPE we'll be doing this over the summer!

I would suggest you go straight to underwear if you're going to potty train. I believe that kids won't tell the difference between diapers and bulky training pants. They KNOW they're wearing underwear. And this may not be popular to say, but keeping them from wetting their pants doesn't make potty training go any faster. A few instances of pants wet down to the socks and they get the idea in a hurry. Trust me- I'm on #3.

Thanks, Ted :) That is one sturdy trellis! I followed your link and enjoyed what you wrote about your soil, etc. Kind of sounds like we are gardening similarly. I LOOSELY follow the SF thing. Meaning I plant closer than recommended but I find the SF technique to be too complicated. I have 3- 3 X 12 foot beds with cinder blocks stacked two high. I used regular dirt that I purchased from a yard (24 cubic yards so far - but the last bit is piled up and waiting for me to finish my beds. Most of the first load went into a retaining wall.) and added manure and compost. It's just one big crap shoot for me right now but I'm having fun experimenting. Loved seeing your pics. What do you use to line your CLOTH diaper pail?

Do you have a washing machine and dryer? Then you will be a lot happier if you get in the habit of washing them each day. You don't have to have a full load. If you need something to carry them from the pail to the washer, just use a plastic bucket. Rinse out the dry pail and let it air dry. A liner will just be one more thing to have to keep clean. Another way is to put all of the days collection along with any towels or sheets in the washer at night and let them rinse or soak. Then in the morning, add the night time diapers and anything soiled during the night and continue the with a regular wash. by the time that your baby gets older, and the mess is worse, you will be glad that you are in the habit of doing this.

My husband asked me recently do I own a dress. No I don't. After losing all my clothes in the flood I have been rebuilding my wardrobe. I have no need for a dress. I do have a couple of skorts from Costco but I don't know if I have ever worn them. Most of my days are spent indoors at home. I prefer comfortable clothes so leggings, yoga pants and capris, and bike shorts in summer with Tshirts and long tunic tops are my favorites. When I am cold it's sweats and fleece. I bought several items from 32 Degrees during the sale including the down coat and vest. Luckily here in Houston area we don't have a long winter but it has been colder for a few years. I found some pants for my husband on Amazon they are ripstop have a lot of pockets and fit beautifully. He loves them I bought every color and it's become his every day pants. He gets asked about them often. The brand is Clothin. While dealing with the broken leg and boot I have been wearing spandex capris.

No 'toilet brush'. Rag with Bon Ami. I avoid abrasive scouring powders. Scrub brush and rag for under the rim. I avoid 'landfill' items for dusting or cleaning, but I do like the blue Lysol product that hangs over the rim on a plastic holder. One lasts for months here.

I would definately have to agree with Eranda...might be a little bit messy for a few days, but they will figure out potty training much more quickly if they only use regular underwear.
