Maybe Exochorda? It's also called the Pearl Bush. Its flowers grow in clusters, bees love it, and it likes moist soil, which would make it ideal for growing out by the lake, but....it could also be Physocarpus, which is native to most of North America. There are various colors, but I believe the wild ones may be white. It's also called Ninebark. The more I think about it, I think it would be more likely to be Ninebark. Huh, interesting. I've not seen - or at least paid attention - to these. Here's the first I found that has a metal base and an insert. RE: it being silverplated, do you mean the whole thing? Or just parts? I can see maybe the 'pewter/brittania' gray parts, there is some shine to the outermost edge. But there's no evidence of any residue anywhere on the body like it wore off. What I'm trying to say is the metal is quite clean as-is. (Tho something did throw me a bit. The base looks brass, but if you look at the underside of the base, it's got patina like copper and under the patina is both gold and hints of copper. Thought that was odd.) Unless somebody did something to strip the plate off intentionally?

Vique, so nice to have a new poster. This forum seems to consist of a very small group, so we are excited when someone else joins us! Belle, so glad you liked them. What are you planning to do with your's? One of the ladies on the Holiday forum said they would be cute as a decoration/favor at an Easter luncheon for young girls--or older even. I thought that was such a fun idea. They were easy, so now I'm thinking I might want to make more for my lunch bunch ladies--so I'd need five more. I really think the fatter heavier weight wine glasses work best--more stable and won't easily get knocked over, but guess any size would work. Know you will have fun painting them. Luvs

It's a Smilax vine, a thorny, lance-shaped vine native to Florida. It's very useful to wildlife but the bane of my woods. It can grow 3 feet in one day and grows up my trees and chokes them It also crawls along the ground and has caused me to trip and fall flat on my face. So we spend a day every spring pulling it from the roots/tubers. Some of the plants are so large that they have a large tuber that had to be dug out. lydia1959....it was 'jub jub' that you almost saw for the jub jub bird in jabberwocky poem, so you were close.

caroline...hosta was a fantastic guess!

glenda-al...I was hoping people thought it was a leafy plant - that's what I would have said if I hadn't known.
