I am so proud of Damien

My girlfriend works at a grocery store. One of the ladies she works with had a house fire and lost everything. She has two boys, one wears 2T and one wears 5T (Damien's size). DD said that she would look and see what she still had left of his 2T stuff and go thru toys, clean up the toddler bed & get the bedding out for it. She would only need to buy the mattress for the bed if she wanted it. Damien went thru his own clothes and donated several t-shirts, a pair of his jeans and lots of his toys, including his beloved transformers, action figures, and some of his hotwheel cars. He picked it all out himself, so he could help other little boys. Even some of his books! What a great little 5 year old! DD was only going to give the 2T clothes, some of his toys he doesn't play with and the bed/bedding. He did this on his own.

Tami...who thinks she raised her DD right, who is raising her little boy right!

I learned a great deal from my MIL and one of the biggest lessons I learned from her canning was to be willing to change. I still remember when the instructions for added acid in tomatoes was introduced. She was the one who told me. Your mother is a wise woman and what a compliment to you that she sets so much store on your knowledge. Sue, Sorry I am late to this celebration but I happened on this thread as I was searching for an update on your dining room to library transformation. I was so thrilled to hear that your son graduated, got such high praise for his film shorts and is heading off to Hampshire in the fall. I have followed your posts over the years and I was really hoping Hampshire would be a good fit for him. From the start, I had a strong gut feeling about your son and I think he's on a path to an exciting future. Your family is beautiful-- and I can't believe the girls aren't noticing your sons! All I can say is that I sure didnt know what I was looking for when I was in my teens. Those girls will wake up one day! A son who wants to take his mother out to lunch is going to be a great mate! Liz you just reminded me of something. When American hired me I memorized all those codes before my first day of training and then they gave us blank maps of the U.S. and asked us to put the codes in the correct place. I had lived in CA all my life and I hadn't a clue where DIA was in relation to JFK or Boston. My trainer told me to start studying maps. LOL.

You bet he'll get extra hugs and kisses! When he heard us talking about it, he asked what we meant by saying the kids didn't have anything. When we explained that thier house had burned down and everything in the house burned too, even thier toys and clothes, he got real quiet for a few minutes. Later, when DD started cleaning the bed, he started looking thru his own things to donate. DD was only going to give away the 2T clothes, because he's wearing the 5's. He's a pretty special kid. A couple of years ago, his other grandma bought a toy for the not forgotten box for Christmas. He thought he was getting it. That was his first lesson in charity. He is learning by example. He even donated one of his extra winter coats, as we are supposed to still get some chilly weather.
