Return of Period

I am sure I have seen this question on one of these forums before but I can't find it. I am curious about when your periods returned after the birth of your little one.

I was exclusively breastfeeding and my period returned at around 6 months. And just to warn you... it was the HEAVIEST period that I've ever had!

7 mo. partial bf - 3 formula bottles/day and NO AF yet.

Well, what's done is done. We did the best we could.... I was pretty upset yesterday. More than anything I felt a breach of trust from the nursery. I mean how can they do that to their loyal customer base? They should be ashamed. Seriously. We never did get even half the soil out of the plants. We let them soak for hours in the bathtub. I thought of adding a tiny drop of dishwashing liquid, but I didn't... So I handed dh the carpet knife and I said here, do it, I can't watch. He said what do you want me to do with this, and I said make 1 inch deep cuts from top to bottom all around. Basically, he thinks we just killed the shrubs... I was able to spread a small amount of roots out. The bottom roots were the easiest. The very tippy top roots were completely cemented and tangled. There was very little I could do... I figure in a few days the shrubs will wither and die. :( I still feel like calling the nursery and asking her how they could do this to their customers, but maybe rootbound pots are the industry "standard" these days.... The real adventure began though after dh got the plants out of the bathtub and brought them outside. Dh let out the plug and came downstairs and we never thought about the bathtub until later. It was plugged. And I mean PLUGGED! Dh had to snake out the drain. He pulled out roots and plant media that was stuck. He had to go into town to get Liquid Plumbr. After the tub was unclogged, he filled the tub with water, then took the unopened bottle of bleach tablets I had just bought that morning for laundry, and he dumped the whole bottle in! I'm going to confess that I did add a tiny bit of Lime to the soil, and I did mix in a bag of garden soil I got from the nursery. It got lost in all our native soil, but it made me feel like we gave a tiny "boost" to the soil. In the end, I decided to add those amendments since I want to make the soil as generous to the Lilacs as I can, especially after what they just experienced yesterday... Sorry to hear the repeat story on Bachmans. We'd hope all the better garden stores would be safe from hvx but lets face it - unless they specialize and are a smaller operation, I doubt you could find 2-3 people at a place like Bachmans (or similar garden stores) that have a clue, and they are probably the wrong two people to do anything about hvx. If you haven't visited Funkie Gardens in Prescott(WI) or Venero (Shorewood) I think you'd find them worthwhile locals to shop, though not as handy as B.... . Maybe it's the battery, but I decided I didn't want to waste the time and money on getting a non-refundable replacement specialty battery for the fob when there is no guarantee it will fix this issue. I found a Belkin Wemo switch in a local Coscto this afternoon and just set it up. Since I can receive the wifi signal from my home network from both the garage and the patio, it is working so far. The wifi signal to the garage is quite weak, but it's working fine so far. I can try moving the wireless router a bit closer towards the garage if there are connection issues. Wemo uses a smartphone app, so I don't have to deal with a separate fob and it is also rated at 15 AMPs so it should handle the pump's electric load fine. I'll hang on the Utilitech for a few days before returning it just in case there are any major problems with the Wemo that make we want to give the Utilitech another try with a fresh battery.

If you use dissimilar metals they may not only, fuse but actually disappear. We have a iron fountain. I recently had to change the fittings because of the action between the fountain and the fittings. When I change the fitting the corrosion had eaten half of it away. (And I was wondering why the fountain was not working right!) Any time you have dissimilar metals you will have corrosion. You can get corrosion even if the fittings are in a damp environment and are not submerged or have a water running through them.

My son is not quite 6 months yet. I started my first period yesterday, and like Mary T said....it's BY FAR the heaviest period I've ever had. In two days, I've already used over half a box of the Tampax Super Heavy tampons.

I had a c-section and only breasfed (pumped actually) for 3 weeks. My period came about 8-10 weeks after the birth and it was not heavy at all.

Exclusively breastfed and I got my period around 6 weeks, but it was very light and irregular (like every few days I would get it for 3 days, then it would be gone, and come back again in a few days)it is now more regular but is still very light, only lasts like 4 days, and I do get cramps but not bad ones.

A study done in England a few years ago, of EXCLUSIVELY nursing mothers, found that the average return of menses was 3 months. That means of course some later, some earlier.

(it also means that relying on breastfeeding as a form of birth control is unwise)

4 months and I exclusively breastfeed.... Yes, my dd is 7 months now and I have REALLY heavy periods now. I'm so bummed.

6 weeks w/ bf (pumped) and bottle feeding. Since then, every one is extremely heavy the first 2 days. I never had them like this before I had Johnny. He is now 6 mo.

4 months - and I partially bf. The strangest thing happened, when period started, dd didn't want to nurse. Seriously refused! If she even got close to my breast, she'd cry like you wouldn't believe. Now period is over and she's nursing like nothing ever changed. Anyone had a reaction like that?!

Mine started back when I returned to work (even though I was pumping! ugh!) and DD was 4.5 mos old...Nina, in answer to your question, I think your period changes your hormones around so much, your milk's taste changes and baby may not like that (I think I remember reading it in my "what to expect in the first year" book). Luckily, I haven't had to deal with that!

I got it 8 weeks after Kayla was born by c-section. i only bf for a few weeks.

AF arrived today. :( My DS is 3 1/2 months old and I mostly breastfeed, but occasionally supplement with formula.
