I'll be cooking at home for family...as usual, because I want to.

We're invited to Harry's sister's home in GA but I'm not sure if we're going or not. We have DSD and family here the last week in March and they won't leave until April 1, I think. Then at the end of April, we have my nephew's wedding in South Carolina so we may just stay home.

Yes, I am working. As most know from my previous posts I work in restaurants. All those holidays where people gather with family at restaurants means that there are those who MUST work those busy days or get fired. I guess I could have picked "Going to a restaurant" as my option in this poll. LOL.

I along with billions of others in this world do not Celebrate the Easter Day anyway, so it is just another day for me. I do have co-workers who are very bitter about holidays like Mother's Day and Easter becoming restaurant destination holidays and they are kept from celebrating with their own families at home with family traditions.

Thanks for checking my profile and noting my birthday! I don't make a big deal about my birthday either. My family never celebrated birthdays when I grew up and again, it is just another day for me.

Oh...I'm absolutely sure it will be here...although I wouldn't mind one bit if one of my daughters wanted to host it...8)

They just think it doesn't feel right unless it's at mom's..

And I guess as long as I can I will...

Of course they all bring their share of food.

I'm breaking the mold this year. I'm doing a Japanese-style tempura dinner for Easter.

I will try cooking some thinly sliced lamb along with the other tempura ingredients.

To acknowledge our Christian faith on the holiday the basket of Easter eggs and an empty cross will be the centerpiece.

Our oldest child asked us to host an Easter dinner this year for her family and her older brother and his girlfriend. Since they all graduated from college, they weren't interested in coming here for Easter as a rule. But now the two that live close by are interested, which is nice. She requested ham, which will make it easy. I am thinking asperagus, au gratin potatoes, Waldorf salad, and a chocolate dessert of some kind.

Unless plans change in the next few days, I'll be doing dinner at my house again this year. Although I love cooking and having all of the family at my house, I'm more than ready for one of my DIL's to take on some of the holiday cooking.

No family to be with. Maybe my friend will ask me this year.

We usually go south for a few days but will stay close by as we are expecting a new grandbaby any day around that time. Need to be here to keep grandaughter and the twins when she goes. Also have a birthday party for another grandaughter on that Saturday. Not sure about Easter sunday. We will just have to see what comes...

I do celebrate Easter and I will be hosting.

In fact, Easter is my favorite holiday of the year. As a Christian, the message of the holiday is so joyous; a true celebration. In addition to that, it's Spring and flowers are coming up, bushes are budding, weather is getting better - it's all perfect as a new and fresh start.

We do celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus! We will start the day with a sunrise service at the river. Then there will be church services with lots of music :^) Whoever is available from both of our families will be at our house for lunch: Pa's special ham, home made biscuits, bunny rabbit macaroni salad, deviled eggs and the special coconut covered bunny cake. The "littles" will hunt eggs in the back yard, and we will all attend a joyous outdoor Resurrection Celebration in the evening!

Sheilajoyce, your menu sounds like mine. Never thought about Waldorf salad but it sure sounds good and am thinking about including it this year. Haven't decided on dessert. Last year it was angel food cake from scratch with a lemon curd and strawberry filling. Very good. Maybe I'll do it again.

Dilly Dally, I went out to dinner for Mother's Day once about 35 years ago. It was so awful I vowed I would never go out on a holiday ever again and I haven't! Maybe that's the secret to keeping people home on holidays... LOL

I hear ya, georgysmom. I advise friends to never go out on any of those holidays including New Years Eve. You will never get the same dining experience you would get on a regular day. The staff is stretched to it's breaking point with the extra business, and sometimes untrained temp workers are hired for the day adding to the mess and confusion in the kitchen and in the dining room. The waitstaff used for special holiday Sunday brunches includes the night time dinner staff and most of them have worked the Saturday night before until the wee hours of the morning only to have to return early at 6AM or 8AM to set up for holiday brunch. No sleep makes for a very cranky waitstaff.

There is usually a special holiday menu printed up with lackluster, quicker to prepare entrees, most often with cheaper ingredients substituted for the expected.....fake crabmeat instead of real crab in omelettes for instance. And the menu prices for both drinks and entrees are jacked up besides.

If one must go out to eat on a holiday I would recommend avoiding those restaurants with special Easter brunch offerings. You will probably get a more relaxing experience dining at an Asian restaurant or a vegetarian restaurant or any place not "known" for it's advertised special Easter brunch. Also very high end restaurants, and very casual family diners do not get swamped on holidays either. It could be fun going to a Hindu restaurant or sushi bar restaurant for with the family for Easter and avoid the crowds, long lines, chaos, and parking problems associated with the typical places.

I'll be having it at our house this year. Looking forward to having the kids all over again. I know I am fixing ham but have not made out my menu yet.

Another "none of the above"...except I will probably eat out...since I do every day...but nothing extraordinary. I'll be glad when I have a kitchen again.

Hosting here. DD and 4 grands. We will have an egg hunt (weather pending) and filled baskets. I don't do alot of candy, I fill with inexpensive little gifts.
Also the grandsons birthday that day, so we will celebrate it. Busy day!

We most certainly celebrate Easter and I will be hosting for the first time. I'm looking forward to having all of my family at my house for a change.

Just a long weekend for us to relax. No plans for anything here. Probably just put pot roast in the slow cooker and enjoy an extra day off!
