it's our morbid desire to watch the rich and fameous fall, that has kept these "stars" in the news...if we didn't watch or talk about them, they'd fade away...but when photos going for thousands of $$, we see them day after day...

linsey's latest brush with the courts is whether or not she "stole" or was "lent" a $2300 necklace...both of these people are in deep need of professional care, and imho, charile needs to be commited for a very long time...same for lindsey...i really don't know why the families havn't tried to evoke 5150 law in ca (involuntary confinement)

She is no different then other stars that have fallen from grace. Look at some of the others...does anyone remember or even care?

She is pretty much a low life druggie and deserves what she gets. She has no respect for the law and thinks (like most celebrities) that the laws/rules don't apply to her. If the judge sends her to jail, it might just save her life.

If I had my way, I would lock her and Charley in a cell, supply them with their getting high product of choice until they OD. In light of today's economy, people losing their jobs and homes, the earthquake in Japan, the "troubles" of these so-called celebs, is of little interest.

I agree with "it's morbid desire to watch the rich and famous fall". I don't keep up on it either, but sometimes it's hard to ignore. I only feel sorry for them and their families, especially C Sheen's. Watching a loved one make a total a** out of himself on national TV must be very difficult. Like us they can't get away from it unless they turn off the TV and quit reading. My brother in law was an alcoholic and was put in rehab by his kids, didn't do a bit good.

While I am sick of hearing about them, I am rather shocked by your venom Dot. These people are someone's children. Try to have a little compassion, at least for the peripheral victims. I would never wish death upon someone, and I am sure you didn't mean it to come out that way.

I can remember the last movie LiLo was in, it was Georgia Rules with Jane Fonda playing her disciplinarian grandmother. It came out in 2007. Yeah, four years ago.

Please, Sleeperblues, don't lecture me about my lack of compassion for these people. Yes, they have families, but they have had multitudes of chances to clean up their act, and probably their families have tried to get them help, with the exception on LL's mother, who is a wanna-be celeb, and parties with her daughter. But unless THEY want to get better, they will continue to thumb their noses at other people and the courts. Sorry, no compassion from me for these two and my wish for them stands. I'm still trying to figure out what's so special about the Kardasians. All of a sudden, there they are. What's the deal w/ them? Who cares? Media hype. I'm sorry for the people that lost their jobs b/c of Charlie, but any studio would be nuts to hire Lohan--she'd probably not show up.

There were two teenagers in our city that went down the street trying doors and finally found one unlocked. A couple was asleep in the basement bedroom. The boys found guns in the home and killed couple in their sleep. It was terrible. That is when I started my nightly routine of checking doors and windows to be sure they were locked. I felt compassion for the couple AND those teens but I am not excusing what they did. they were so young and I wondered what happened to them to put them in this situation and thought what wasted lives.

We mute the TV 'news' sound when they get on another Lindsey Lowlife story. It's just 'filler' for the broadcasters, and for these 'famous' people it's all 'good ink'. If nobody talked about them they'd shrivel up and disappear like the wicked witch of the west. IF ONLY!

My husband and I usually sit down to watch a movie or some DVD at around 7ish most evenings. So the TV is usually on the same channel that inside edition comes on and first thing is Charlie Sheen so I usually catch a bit of that. It's just so crazy...this man is total out of his mind but yet he thinks he's the gift to the world or something? It's crazy! I believe he's saying that he's going to sue the people for firing him for like 100 million? UH shouldn't it be the other way around for being so doped up that he has to be fired and now the show cannot go on because he CHARLIE SHEEN is so messed up now that he cannot even work? Lindsay Lohan did a couple of pretty good movies in the early 2000's - "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday." My niece, Chloe, and her friends love them, especially "Freaky Friday," and watch them over and over again. I hate it when the girls catch sight of Lindsay Lohan on the news and ask about why she's going to jail.

It is apparent to me that many who have posted here don't have a clue what mental illness is and can do. The crime here is the people around these two. First the media that is so disgracefully exploiting them and secondly the "loved" ones around them that aren't doing what is necessary to protect them from themselves and the media and get them the help they so desperately need.

I'm wondering what is the title of mental illness L.L. has, Could it be "I;m a star and I can do anything I want with no consequences" Or "I'm a star and I'm above the law you other peons have to follow" As for C.S, he probably has some mental issues, but I'm wondering how much it is because of him frying his brain with pharmaceuticals and booze. Sorry, still no sympathies for these two and other so-called celebs who feel entitled.

I also question mental illness....I believe they both are using drugs. If drug addict is a mental illness then I suppose they are mentally ill. Charlie reminds me totally of my EX husband after his last divorce he just went off the deep end drinking. I have known that man since he was 18 and he's in his 50s now...one thing I can tell you is that he is not mentally ill and is just fine as long as he's not drinking! When someone is drunk or stoned...they do not act normal the act crazy...that doesn't make them mentally ill, just drunk or stoned!

They are not mentally ill as far as I am concerned, they have an addiction and are not strong enough to quit. Some of you have talked about quitting smoking that should give you an idea of what heavy users of hard drugs go through. Magnify that 100 times.

Some people have an addictive personality, I know someone who does. For some reason she needs what most of us get in our lives without substances. She is addicted to coffee, cigarettes and booze. If she has to give up any of those 3 she uses more of one of the others.

I think Lindsay is news because she was a child star that played the "good girl" all the time. Now that she has gone bad we snicker and point fingers, "Who was she to "preach" wholesome values at us, see she is trash, we knew it all the time". Our society does not appreciate it when someone points to another direction other than vain, selfish, sex crazed, materialistic. An angel fell and society is rejoicing.

I'll admit that I have little experience with drug addicts and alcoholics. I do have a great deal of experience with mentally ill addicts and alcoholics. There is a difference. I know that I am not going to change the thinking of some who have their mind made up, but please be fair and read the site I have below. It is just one of thousands of sites on the subject. I too am tired of seeing L.L. or Sheen show up every where I turn. But they are sick and the media is very wrong to be exploiting them for their own profit.

I agree with Gazania. I don't believe anyone would allow their life to fall apart in ruins if all they needed was to merely use some self control, courtesy and/or self-discipline to maintain relationships, careers and physical and emotional health. I've never warmed up to CS, I just don't have strong feelings about him at all. LL either, really; however I hate to see any person in pain and suffering. This is a complex problem and I don't believe they can control what they're doing right now, especially CS. He's extremely ill, and needs compassion and expert care.

I think they just have addictive behaviors and are powerless at this time. I see them as not much different than other addicts, be it drugs, alcohol, ciggys, or even food. There are lots of folks that can't control their urge to eat, or 'over' eat.

I saw Lindsay Lohan, who currently lives in my town, a couple of weeks before the necklace incident.

She was with a young brunette, and they were walking into our local Whole Foods market as I was walking out.

I'm not in her fan base, but I was glad to see that she looked well, with good energy.

And hey, they were going into a health food store, not some den of iniquity. That's good, right?

Understanding that our choices, good or bad, have consequences is important. Maybe the lives of "celebrities" illustrate this at a comfortable distance. We can yak about their latest screw up instead of working on our self improvement.

But I think of LL as a real person now, since I saw her in real life. This has helped me to feel some compassion for her current mess.

I get so sick of the rehab mantra everyone chants. Rehab will not work unless the underlying cause is addressed first. That underlying cause is generally mental illness. The drugs, the drinking are self medication. The other horrible behaviors are manic and compulsive.

Until we treat mental illness the same way we treat cancer the vicious cycle will continue.

I know a lot of so called recovered alcoholics and drug users who are still mentally ill and still exhibiting irrational behaviors. Ever hear of a dry drunk?

I'm sick of the courts sending these people to rehab over and over when what they do need is a good medical and psychological work-up followed by proper treatment.

But rehab is a money maker plus it makes society "feel" better. People prefer the bandaid approach rather than talk about the huge elephant in the room. Maybe even their own room.
