Comments (5)I LOVE it! Works perfectly - nice to have high & extra low output. We spent a long time going back and forth between the Dacor and the Wolf. As far as outputs, they were about the same. The Wolf was $300 more expensive. Honestly, it came down to looks. I didn't love the way the Wolf looked. And I didn't like or want the red knobs (they would have looked terrible in my kitchen). I felt the Wolf was too industrial looking. I wanted the pro function, without the heavy pro look. The Dacor is softer....See MoreDesign Around This #13: French Country
Comments (102)Thanks for the encouragement! Sochi, I think you're right, that is the quintessential french light fixture isn't it? I tried to mix it up a little with the different pendants over the island, but I do really like the shape of that chandelier. I'm really looking forward to the rustic modern. A lot of the homes close the ski resorts near my home would really do well with rustic modern interiors. I can't wait to see the great ideas....See MorePics of bead board ceilings anyone??
Comments (1)Beadboard paneling was commonly used for porch ceilings and soffits in the Victorian era. I don't see how you could go wrong with it in a Sun Room. I would run 3/8" or 1/2" thick wood or PVC paneling perpendicular to the beams if possible, trim the edges with a quarter round and paint everything the same....See Morecounter help in 'country' kitchen
Comments (15)I think a Mission style door in that color range looks great with shiny granite - the simplicity of the door style balances the elegance of the shiny stone. My husband is in the kitchen business and has seen several kitchens with Mission style doors in rich wood tones with Blue Pearl over the years, and says it always looks nice. I was looking for a picture of that door with a gray wash, but couldn't find it. The richness of the red wash looks great, probably because red has some blue in it and the values are similar. I would imagine you could duplicate that look in nearly every line of kitchen cabinets. Kitchen Craft has lots of similar door styles and tones in their line. Brushed nickel hardware would pick up the gray flecks in the granite and show up nicely on the wood. I could see a nice slate tiled floor in grays and blues, or you could go warmer with a similar wood toned plank floor - probably 2 or 3 shades darker or lighter, very common in Craftsman homes. For the backsplash, the darker example would be more dramatic, but I think the lighter blue looks more country....See Morelyno
