Granite sealand messed up - confused now

Here's the deal: I wasn't at home to supervise the granite installation but Hubby was. He says they did seal everything although he was a bit fuzzy on the details (such as he thinks they said we should seal again). After looking at some of the sealants out there he's pretty certain they used StoneTech.

Well, the sealant is horrible. The only problem is, from what I've read I think we have excess sealant (there's an irregular whitish layer on top if you look at the granite at a certain angle) but yet the granite doesn't pass the water test. Is this possible? How do we fix it? I keep trying to get him to talk to the fabricators about this but he keeps delaying. (I can't due to work issues.)

His solution was to go to HD and buy their sealer and apply it. Now I'm worried that this was a really bad idea (mixing sealants).

Help?
