This is a subject that comes up about once a month and there are as many answers as thete are members because we all have had different experiences and have our favorites for different reasons. As the above poster says, though, the one that seems to come up the most often as a BAD experience is Ira Woods. I read and respond to some 30 forums and discussion groups daily (Im retired and disabled and have little life..LOL) and I see more bad about Ira Woods than any one else but fortunately not from my own experience because I've managed to avoid them. As to pricing most online sites offer a price match or guarantee and some sort of free or discounted freight so price ceases to become as much of an issue as does service. "debbie 2008" got a good price but bad service from Woods and thus her problem. So regardless of who you settle on based on our comments here, call the vendor instead of just ordering online, ask them to match or beat the best price you have found in your online search and judge their attitude by how your phone experience goes. Ask questions, see how you are treated. This should go a long way towards giving you a comfort level and some trust that none of us here can replace. As to my preference, Natonal Builder Supply.

I have learned that the best prices do change from vendor to vendor depending on the item as well. Reliability of the vendors does not change, but asking where the best prices can be found will not give a static answer. The best bet is to research the prices and then ask about the reputations of the vendors.

I have only shopped at Hamels Fabrics in Chilliwack BC. They are wonderful to deal with have high quality fabric and very good sales. I got a 16pc FQ bundle Reg. $74.00 for $34.98. The online shops treat us shoppers just as if we were in their store. You will find good quality and great service from 99%. I didn`t mention using your credit card or PayPal. Many are moving to PayPal. You must sign up with them and they do all the credit card transactions in a safe way. If you use your credit card, the good stores will indicate your are entering a secure area where you enter your card information. In 5 years, I have never had a problem. When I started shopping, I used the shops advertised in magazines. I just looked around until I found ones I liked and that catered to my needs. You will find one shop may favor flannels, another novelty, another reproduction, etc. Another spot Quiltshops.com has a membership of 200 stores and you can browse through those. I'm about to enroll in a twelve-step program to help wean me off this site: Sanderson Fabrics. Caveat: you do have to pay customs, so factor that in. The quality of the fabrics is exceptional and the customer service is only so-so ... but I keep going back for those fabrics!
