Last night was interesting! I think Adam went out of his way to make fun of country music. I also think he knows
he can do "whatever" and be able to stay on the show.

I don't know what will happen with the voting. Tonight
should be a good show!

I was (and still want to be) and Adam fan -- and I appreciate that, as an artist, he wants to be "different" -- but (for me) he crossed the line last night into really obscure. Beyond mainstream (which is what I think Idol would prefer to produce: different, new and fresh, yes, but the winner still has to appeal to most of America in whatever genre is pursued.)

I don't think Scott has the voice/talent to remain in the competition and should be the next to go, IMO. After that, it would be hard to chose!

I don't think Adam will leave yet. The song was weird, but it would have been weirder for him to come out and have sang it 'country'.

I'd like to see Scott or Michael leave tonight.

Adams performance last night was certainly different, that's for sure. I like him but I wasn't loving the way he sang that song. But, I dont think he'll go yet. He's got too much appeal and I think America wants to see what he'll do next.

I think Scott or the country guy (that sang first) should go.

I predict the final 3 will be Danny, Adam and Allison.

The theme last night was suppose to be the Grand Ole Opry. In my opinion, Adam did not follow the "rules". Everyone else did whether they like country music or not. There are plenty of country/rock mix songs from current artists that he could have chosen. I agree that he went out of his way to mock country music. I think that Adam should go next. Just my opinion.

Lousy with names but it'll probably be the guy with the black fingernail polish who gets to stay. Just because he's different and the audience went wild.

I think the blonde with the tattoo on her arm should go. Adam was waaaaayyyyyy out there last night. Don't know quite what to make of him yet.

I think Adam was wonderful! I don't know what the "rules" were. He sang a country song, but he made it totally his own. I agree, he could probably sing pretty much anything, yes, even the phone book, and I'd be entranced. I am in my mid-fifties and his genre is so NOT my usual listening, but every once in a while a singer comes along that just really grabs my attention, and Adam is one of them. A visual is a big part of it for me. I love his face! Possibly he wouldn't be as appealing to my ear if I was only listening and not looking, too.

I haven't even watched the show (taped it), but after reading this thread, I had to go to YouTube and check out last night's performance.

I don't watch it that much but I do like the guy from Texas who sang the one with all those words

Adam reminds me of a cross between Freddie Mercury of Queen and Elvis. I wasn't impressed with the guys last night at all. Thought the ladies did well. I am voing for Alexis and Allison.

Love Adam, he won't be the one that is going. He didn't sing as "country" as he should but then again neither did Lil Rounds. They aren't country singers and didn't try to be. It would be insincere. I think the ones that should go would be the guy that sang first or Scott. They weren't that good singing last night. Scott should not have made it this far. He just doesn't have the voice to be a star. My pick for the final three are Danny, Adam, and Lil Rounds. NancyLouise

after his performance last night i felt like kara- thought it was strange and weird, but then i went to youtube and watched it over and over and now i love it. I am riveted watching him- his vocals are so effortless. I remember Dilana on Rockstar Supernova had done the same version. I think he is incredible- the most unique and awesome male singer to ever be on idol. His range is just crazy. Also on youtube you can watch him sing some really weird glam songs where he is pretty much in drag on some, and wearing freddy mercury type clothes on others. He also sings beautiful songs like dust in the wind and come home...so hopefully he will do some ballads on idol too..
He reminds me very much of Elvis and i really think he is going to make it big. I cannot believe he has remained undiscovered so long. Think of what a great concert he would give. I will be one of the first in line to buy his albums.. On the american idol message boards he is definitely the most talked about contestant. It seems to me the majority of the people LOVE him. He won't be going anywhere..if anything the judges would save him i think.

I thought they pick different Genre to test the vocals of each contestant to see if they are versitle...i.e. last year they did Andrew Lloyd Weber and David Cook sang Phantom...a rocker singing Phantom beautifully...not his style, but a good singer can sing, and change the style of what he sings, he just PREFERS one style over another.

So with that in mind, I thought they wanted the contestants to sing country(ish)...songs to see if they were more versitle. If I looked at it that way (imagine Adam singing Phanom like he sang Ring of fire...ewwwww), then I have a new perspective on last nights contestants. Adam did NOT do what was asked, neither did Lil. Allison, though I LOVED her was iffy.

Scott was boring, last guy I hated (Matt?). First guy...didn't like because he mangled the song. So Looking at it that way...Adam should go home. Not that Adam wasn't interesting or vocally ummm interesting (hated it, personally, but vocally...interesting)..but because he didn't sing country.

I missed most of the first part of the show. I totally forgot, so I only got to watch about the last half hour. I have a feeling Danny is going to win in the end. I still like Anoop. Can't stand the girl with the weird vocals...Allison? Can't comment on much more.

on the american idol website there is alot os discussion surrounding the country music issue and it sounds like they don't feel adam broke any of the rules because they weren't asked to sing country music...it was grand ole opry night and they were to sing the music of people who were members of the grand old opry- and that is what they are saying he did. They also reminded me that on beatles week last year that one girl did a country version of 8 days a week i think it was... so other contestants have definitely done it too, so that is up for discussion as well. I don't understand why the judges sometimes have such a hard time with a different version of a song. For instance the hawaiian guys version of somewhere over the rainbow is way different that the original version but i think is even better and people love it!! I know alot of people vote week by week by who did good or bad, but for me it definitely is an overall thing....if they are good enough to become an american idol and i would buy their records, i would definitely keep voting for them till the end even if they had a bad night... if someone kind of sucks but they do one really awesome song, i wouldn't vote for them just because of that. I think it is so interesting, i never thought carrie underwood was exceptionally good on idol, and if you go to youtube and watch her idol performances, they really were nothing spectacular, but now i think she sounds incredible, and look where she has gotten!! if she had been voted off early because she had a bad song one night(which she did) just think of what we may have missed out on!!! can't wait to see what happens tonight!! I think it will be megan, lil, or the oil rigger guy going home

I too am in my mid-50s and the likes of artists like Adam are not generally my cup of tea but ... one of my favorite albums of all time is entitled Red, Hot and Blue, a compilation of Cole Porter songs performed by various artists. Each was performed in a style unique to the artist, not the original song Porter's writing was most known for. That's what Adam did last night and I loved it! He made it his own.
