Thank you all, my dear, dear friends. Yesterday we had one of those days here at our house -- no water for 36 hours, Freya sneaking a pizza off the kitchen counter, and the smell of fresh polyurethane pervading the cold, damp house.... On the other hand, I had the loving affection of Tom and my DS Jacob, calls and cards from family, and greetings from all of you. And tonight we're going out to dinner to try celebrate again. Carla, Luanne, Jon, Anita, Lori, Ingrid, Sue, Carolina, Pamela, and Carol -- each one of your messages brought smiles and memories to my mind. I just realized that with the exception of Ingrid, I know each one of you in the Real World (as opposed to online) -- Ingrid, we'll just have to correct that soon. Thank you all so much! It was so wonderful and I began a couple of days ago, it goes until lunch on Monday when my boss takes me out. Linda, he gave me the sweetest card. The greeting was "Dear Birthday Girl". He's only 11, who is he calling girl? I had to laugh! Y'all are the best. Sol, will you sing Rockin' Robin? ;)

Happy Birthday, Rob! I've spent birthdays like that, too, both mine and my mom's. I'm grateful for Medicare...it has made looking after my parents' care and finances so much easier. I'm also grateful for means. Medicare is great, but my parents can also pay for the other "parts" as well as their long-term care that isn't covered. I'm also grateful that my dad has always kept meticulous records and maintained relationships with service people. This may sound awful, but I'm grateful that my mother had the flu just over a year ago. She ended up in the hospital with pneumonia as well. The doctor recommended rehab and recuperation before she went home with her caregiver. She went to the same rehab where my dad was already, and after a couple of months she recovered but moved directly to the memory care in the same building. It's been great for her, and for the rest of the family. It made the transitions much, much easier, especially on my mom.

Aw, y'all are so sweet! Thank you for thinking of me. It wasn't a very good day since I was so sick. such is life! But tonight I'll do something with my son and tomorrow I'll go out with my friend at work (whose birthday is today). I received email greetings from friends... and this note too! I'll just keep celebrating!
