Orange peel ceiling finish?
Comments (7)When we were house shopping I saw one that had orange peel walls and ceilings. (built maybe 2004). I didn't like it, I felt like I was in some sort of dome because it was exactly the same. But thats my opinion. It didn't help that the walls and ceiling were the same color, off-white. The living area had crown molding, it helped break it up a bit, if that makes sense. I think if you have orange peel on your walls and ceiling, if you put crown molding up, keep the ceilings (flat based) white and have some color to your walls, it would look really nice. If you could get a 'finer' orange peel on your ceiling that would be even better. Its also how much money you want to put into it. Smooth ceilings will cost so much more. Would you want to do crown molding? I'm guessing orange peel ceilings and crown molding could cost significantly less than smooth ceilings : )....See MoreDesperately need paint advice (pic included)
Comments (13)walkin: You are so kind. I'm in so over my head with this paint project. What was I thinking? I must have been having a Martha Stewart moment. You know when you get this hair up your you know what and think "I can do this". Well at least now I know painting is not a career option. I was following your post about your DS. I hope all is still well. I went through a similar situation when my DS was 5 and poor thing had to endure 2 spinal taps within 10 ten days. It's the worst feeling to be so scared and helpless as a parent. I'm so glad to read he's back to his old self. On a happier note, isn't it a great feeling to walk into your re-designed rooms and just smile? I'm so happy for you!! Please post pictures!! I still get a kick walking into my family room. Enjoy!!! yayagal: I would rather get a root canal w/o novacain before calling him back. I just wanted him out of my house, he was beyond creepy and gross. He came highly recommended, I later found out the recomnendation was 5 years old. Oopss!! You are so sweet to reply and thank you for your kind words. I'll post pictures of the newly painted PR (give me a few weeks, due to painters lead time) ASAP....See MoreBM Matte or eggshell for interior warm white smooth walls?
Comments (6)Talked to a guy in BM store, they suggested eggshell for ppl with kids. The store I visited is painted in Aura matte. The guy mentioned even though Aura matte is washable but it is not scrubbable and after washing it for a couple of times, now he frequently touches up the bathroom in the store. He didn't comment on whether matte will make the room looks darker, as is harder to tell without seeing the light condition of the room. They did mention for painters if they have no experience in Aura before it could be harder for them to apply and Regal will be much easier. For smooth wall, they suggested aura due to its richer color, I bought a sample and going to test it out on the wall :)...See MoreAccent Tile Wall in Bathroom
Comments (0)Hello. We had an accent wall in our hall bath installed. It’s on the wall behind our vanity and toilet. And then adjacent is the tub/shower surround. Our contract included that a cement board wall would be installed, but instead the tiler installed the tiles directly to the bathroom wall. They are orange peel walls at that. Will we have issues don’t the line that a backer board wasn’t used?...See MoreLori A. Sawaya
