GIMP is just like Photoshop...it's fantastic, there are tutorials online. Easier still is photobucket which has a clone stamp tool....an eraser. Tuxpi.com has neat picture frames....

What do you mean by photo editing? Do you want to correct the color on old pictures? Do you want to add text? Do you want to superimpose images or move stuff around? Do you want to eliminate noisy backgrounds? There are photo editors that make some of these things simple...or you could learn to use Gimp. Gimp does much of what Photoshop does and is only slightly less cumbersome to learn. I typically clear up old images, change the size to add room for text, and then add text. For those functions I use the free program called Irfanview with the Irfanview add-ins. Irfanview is more of a viewer that will open ever image format and make some adjustments. It's the add-ons that give it super powers. There is another free program called XnView. I dropped that one back in the 90s in favor or Irfanview, so I don't know what the capabilities are.
