I can't think of anything you could do but put doors of some kind up to cover it. I don't mind looking at big screens. Ours is 65" in our den. It's built in but not covered up.

We did a recessed shelving unit ... the unit only had to be recessed approx. 18" because the tv is not very deep.. we recessed into the garage and we are so happy we did it. We didnt lose much garage space and are still able to park the cars. Ours is a 56" tv.. i don't mind the black looking at the big screen either.
(sorry the pic is so big, i still cant figure out how to make the picture smaller..lol)

Hi Susan... we got the bed at BJ's Wholesale Club a few years ago.. Not sure if they still carry it. Thanks, our little doggie loves it too!!

We bought a large flat screen for our 2nd home. I found a black 3piece entertainment unit at a store in our area called The Dump. I paid only $700 for the whole unit and it looks very similar to the Pottery Barn "full media suite". I even found baskets to fit some of the openings. It's worked out very nicely. Also, there are case goods (buffets, credenzas) that can be retrofitted for "pop up" flat screens. I've seen them in Southern Living, however, the tvs were smaller than 60" and i'm not sure a 60" could pop up safely!

I have a 42" screen in a recessed built-in wood bookcase. No doors or cover. It's only been there for a couple of months. The "black hole" was a bit shocking at first, but I've become used to it, and it might even be less intrusive than the large standard TV it replaced. Mine is in the bedroom though, and so appearance is less of a factor.

Here is ours in the den....Tv is 42" but cab is built for an upgrade to a 60". With the speakers & audio stuff Dh HAS (!) to have...there was no sense in trying to hide the TV - it is what it is!!

I have had a cab b/4 with doors & they never got closed - just added to the dusting!

To post a photo here -- first create a free album at Photobucket (there are other sites but this is one that I do use ....)

Then upload your photos to Photobucket -- as you click on your photo there -- there should be four codes that pop up under the photo .....

Click on the HTML code -- and it will automatically say "Copied" -- then write your posting here -- go down a space or two -- and Paste in your photo -- and we should be able to see it!
