Island sink...what faucet would look good?

Our sink will be in the island...I'm wondering if I should use a "lower profile" faucet? I really like a couple Delta faucets...I think the Allora or Pilar? Not sure if I spelled those right! I like the idea of a pull down faucet, but since its on the island (a flat island, no raised counter to hide the faucet), should I choose a faucet that doesn't stick up so high?

I'm thinking of going with a regular sized faucet for the prep sink. I think it will drive me crazy to have a small faucet while trying to wash veggies, and prepping chicken, etc.

But of course that is not locked in stone. I need to do some measuring.

For sure the smaller one will be over at the beverage sink area.

My only sink will be in the peninsula (which I keep thinking of as my island) and I was thinking about taking the opposite approach and making it very visible ... Since you're going to see it anyway why not make it more 'on purpose' than trying to downplay it?

I don't want it too high because of splashing and am searching for that happy medium - suggestions???

What bar stool would look good with my dining chairs?

Depending on your family and life style I would avoid fabric covered anything. The dining room seems to be significantly easier to keep chairs really clean in vs the stools at an island in my experience. For us when we did our kitchen which is open to the dining area I wanted the stools to be very low profile and not be the star. I wanted the island and the colour of it, which is a dark grey called iron mountain to be the star. As a result our stools are actually chrome bottoms and then acrylic see through on the top. With three kids I need to wipe them often but everything always wipes off...I shudder to imagine if they were fabric!

how much space between the pendants. Ann, in both comments I mentioned a guide up in my first comment. I guess you keep missing it? here it is again,,,with 3 others. these should give you the needed spacing to choose pendants. while you can play around w/the distance between them, the height should be right at 30" or so, with no more than 36" from the countertop. Since you're going smaller, you don't have to do the 30" between. smaller sized pendants can be a tad bit closer 7" is a mini pendant and far too small to use over your island. shoot for 10-14"

What is your style? My kitchen is fairly traditional so when I remodeled I didn't want something super modern looking. I also did NOT want any of those styles with wires around them because I didn't want to deal with possibly cleaning under the "cage". I checked out several models in person and got the Kohler Artitifact. It is well reviewed - the movement of the pull down is smooth as is the retraction. The sprayer has three modes including a gentler "berry rinse" mode. Any of the brands will provide good quality and have parts to service if that becomes necessary in the future. Delta and Moen are generally the least expensive lines to consider - they are both excellent quality and of course the actual price will depend on style and finish. Kohler is high quality. Brizo is the high end sister line for Delta. If you do a search of the forums for kitchen faucets there have been numerous threads discussing options extensively My faucet is installed to the left side of my 36" sink instead of the middle so that my drain doesn't divide my sink cabinet in the middle. This enables me to have both a garbage disposal and a pull out garbage bin in that space.

nikkidan-We have the Delta Addison in our island which is the same size and general shape as the Allora. We also added a soap dispenser and it looks fine. I had the same concerns you are having, but once it was installed, my concerns disappeared. We have the Allora in our laundry room & it is a very well made faucet--better quality than the Addison I believe. I haven't experienced the Pilar, but my vote would be for Allora. I did change out the soap dispenser with our Allora faucet as the one that came with it was difficult to fill and was "plasticy". We went with the Luxart Model# CSD in brushed nickel which actually matches the Allora stainless quite nicely. Here's a pic of our kitchen from the family room showing the faucet from the rear (the barstool to the right is hiding the soap dispenser from view but you can just make out the Allora faucet in the laundry room to the left):

OK, just did a Google Image Search and saw the Pilar--definitely a single hole faucet or a bridge faucet. I didn't care for all the bits with the Pilar. Just my $0.02.

We have the pilar on our island. I think it looks ok and I love the touch feature. I couldn't live without it now.

I used the same tall, high arc, pulldown at both my perimeter cleanup sink and at my island prep sink. I think it looks fine. When I first took these faucets out of the box, I thought they were huge! Once installed, I got used to such a tall structure on the flat island. The function of the tall pulldown far outweighs any tiny negative visual effect for me.

There has been discussion about the same topic on a few different threads recently, and I've been posting this pic a lot. Apologies to those that are getting tired of seeing it.

I think some of these faucets are pretty satisfying aesthetically and need not be hidden. High-arc faucets can be graceful and functional. Our utility sink is on the island, no backsplash, accessible from both sides, and we love it and don't mind the fact that it is a visual focus.

Has anyone used the kohler artifacts pull down kitchen faucet in an island. Its over 17 inches tall so I have some concerns as well. Its a flat island.
