What to do with a hole left by a medicine cabinet
Comments (4)If I understand correctly, you previously had a recessed medicine cabinet that you removed and now there is a hole in the wall? Well, you patch it. You cut out the hole such that you can properly anchor a new piece of dry wall into the hole and hit studs. Then you use mesh tape and drywall mud to secure where the pieces meet and feather out so that the patching is no longer visible. Then prime. Then paint. This is doable but I have found it to be difficult to get a perfect looking wall if you're inexperienced. Might be worth it to pay someone to patch it up for you....See MoreHow useful are electrical outlets in medicine cabinet?
Comments (6)We are in the process of planning a remodel of a tiny bathroom too. We decided to put a small shelving unit next to the medicine cabinet that would have space for the toothbrush charger and the electrical outlet inside. See the link for a picture of what we have in mind. I think it will need to be open on two sides, front and medicine cabinet side, so "L" shaped. That will accomodate the dryer or iron cord when it is in use. The picture shows a conventional type cabinet, open on the front side. We have some water damage so need to spend carefully and a pricey medicine cabinet is not in the cards. This is contemporary so maybe not your look. Hers had a top to it and she put collectibles in there. In the years since it was moved into a corner of her living room where she could open it up to use it for letter writing. My sister now has it proudly displayed in her living room. A wonderful, usual piece of furniture. In the drawers were the phone books, catalogs etc. Mary...See MoreFrom antique medicine cabinet to Spice cabinet
