I would identify the sink you want before ordering your cabinets. There seems to be a big hole in the mid range of sink sizes... very few in the 30" sink base size - most of the good sized ones require a 36" sink base. Elkay's website is kind in the regard that they clearly state what size sink base you need vs. making you figure it out on your own or search through specs. You want to compare Apples to Apples - this means you need to know what you want. Specifically, what cabinet construction you want. For example, if you go to Home Depot and see a cabinet you like, the salesperson will start going blah...blah...blah. So, you need to know some specific parameters to ask about. For example, you like door style A, that's nice - Home Depot's standard is particle board, there is a "partial" plywood upgrade and then the full plywood construction upgrade. What do YOU want? Note, 1/2" plywood is not the same as 3/4" plywood. So, you need to know what you want and take those SPECIFIC details to different cabinet showrooms and even a few custom cabinets makers to find out who has the best price on the exact same cabinets. If you want to get an apples to apples price comparison, try laying out a small pretend kitchen with standard size cabinets and bring that in to the various places and have it priced out - that will tell you what the best deal is. So, a 36" sink base with tip-out drawers, a 30" 3-drawer pot and pan base, a 42" blind corner cab. A 24" (or 27" if you want 15" deep uppers) corner upper, and a few standard uppers. ALL cabinet manufacturers offer these cabs, so this is a way to get an idea on different pricing. Make sure you compare particle board to particle board, or all 1/2" plywood to all 1/2" plywood, or all 3/4" plywood (mostly custom, rarely semi-custom) to all 3/4" plywood. And make sure you compare equivalent drawer slides as well - here I suggest you do not accept anything less than Blum Blumotion undermount soft-close glides - you'll be miserable otherwise. Don't go in with a complicated layout to get a lot of different prices to compare apples to apples - the more complicated it is the more the salespeople talk and throw you off your goal. Keep it simple for now. As for pull-outs: Yes, there is a HUGE upcharge on ordering cabinets with them already installed. It is MUCH cheaper to order the pull-outs separately online yourself (Rev-a-Shelf, Hafele) and install them yourself or have your cabinet installer put them into empty cabinets BEFORE they are installed on the walls. This, unfortunately, is the only way to ACCURATELY compare prices among the gazillions of cabinet manufacturers out there. After that you can do a real layout and compare the pricing on exactly what YOU need amongst the 2-3 cabinetmakers you know already offer the best value for the money.

I've been researching this for way too long now. There are a bazillion options, so it's overwhelming. WAC seems to be the easiest to configure & install, but also very expensive. It does, however, come with a silicone "coating" that protects it. I don't think other brands have this option...at least not that I can tell. I also like Diode LED brand as they have the Switchex Driver & Dimmer switch, so you don't have to hide the driver/transformer somewhere. I'm thinking you may be able to use Switchex with the tape lights of different brands...not sure though. Another plus for Diode LED is that you can purchase custom lengths. WAC is only sold in 2", 12" and 5' lengths, but they connect very easy with no soldering. Diode LED needs to be soldered (if cut). Reviews I've found also recommend: environmentallights.com, hafele.com, and armacostlighting.com (homedepot & lowes). Things to consider: CRI rating (90+, the higher the rating the more natural and truer are the colors, ie a red will look like it's true red in a higher CRI where a lower CRI might make it look a bit off, darker, etc) , color temperature in Kelvins (ie 2700K gives off a very warm yellow, 3000K light yellow, 3500K white, 4500K whitish blue, etc. options), input voltage (12V or 24V - I'm leaning toward 24V for a longer run), lumens per/ft (how dim or bright it is), cuttable increments, if you want it dimmable, max run, etc. Most, if not all, companies will walk you through it & help with the design/layout it if you give them a call. You can also go to a local lighting store for help. Oh also if getting a dimmable tape lighting system, make sure to get a LED Dimmable switch. The typical/traditional dimmable switch will not be compatible and you'll either burn out a lot sooner or it will flicker/make sound.

Okay I see you guys are talking about plywood up charge that some cabinet makers charge. I’m not totally sold on paint finish idea. I feel Cream/White would look awkward, I wish I could see some example where others have pulled this off successfully. Other than White would coordinate with Maple Hazelnut? Green Design - Why would I need 240 volt line? For oven microwave? The ones I’ve seen work fine on 120 volt line. I will try to post kitchen layout later so you know the whole picture. I’m almost giving up on this project and may be just buy Microwave cart. The reason this all got started was that we replaced over range microwave with range hood so there is no place for microwave to go. Also lost the cabinet above the microwave to range hood venting. We bought a mid size countertop microwave which is temporarily sitting on a wood side table. Which is not how we want it but it works for now. Don’t want to use up granite countertop space for microwave. We also have a side board where I could put the microwave but we need that space for other things. I’ve seen some decorative open hanging shelves that I can put on the empty wall and place microwave on the shelf but I don’t like the aesthetic of that idea. Also saw some 48” kitchen pantries that have microwave slot on top. But it only fits compact microwave. At least need to fit mid size countertop microwave. So again my head is exploding - what to do, how to do?
