Sandy-it's working now. Follow rhome410s advice and link some images, especially the one of just the kitchen, to your thread here. You will get some great help from the "experts'.

This is the only one clear enough to help, I think. But we need to know something about what you want to accomplish. What do you like and dislike?

Can you/do you want to change appliance locations? Do you want a peninsula or an island? Seating there, prep sink? What is the measurement of the kitchen/hall wall?

I love the look of the Traditional White Kitchen, inset or full overlay cabinets. I will be keeping my Bosch dishwasher. I Love the Samsung fridge, but it is very deep and sticks out past the doorway. I don't know if it can be recessed into the wall behind it or if we would be better off getting a new FD fridge. I will be getting a new stove. I would love a gas range but we would have to have propane and dh isn't keen on the idea. So I'm thinking a 30"slide in induction range with convection oven. I would like a wood hood, I saw a photo somewhere that had pewter pieces displayed on a shelf and really like the look.

The ceilings are only 7'8" and the bulkheads...which will be coming out are 9". I'd like to have the cabinets go to the ceiling and trimmed with crown molding to give me some much needed storage space. I have a closet in my hallway that I uses as a pantry that needs a makeover too!

The desk area is a waste of space. I'd like this area to maybe be a baking area???? I also need to improve the lighting...under cabinet, over the sink, peninsula, dining room and foyer.

The kitchen is open to the dining room. We do not utilize this area except for holidays and use it as a buffet when we have friends over.. Dh and I usually sit at the peninsula which is not comfortable at all! I'd be open to some creative way to better utilize this dining space.

I want to replace the carpeting in the living room/dining room/hallway with hardwood...not sure what kind yet. I'd also like to carry this into the kitchen. We will be changing the baseboards and moldings out so suggestions would be welcome.

I hate the cabinets over the peninsula, I will not miss them one bit! I would like some type of seating, maybe a bi-level peninsula either side of the kitchen would be ok. We do entertain a lot and everyone tends to gather in the kitchen.

I need storage for all of my cookie sheets, trays, parchment sheets, mixing bowls, spices. I'm leaning toward all drawers on the lower cabinets. I had initially thought of tearing down the wall between the living room and kitchen
but now have mixed feelings.I'd like a bread drawer and under counter trash bins.

There are just my husband and myself, no children except for the four footed kind. I would like an area to keep the
pups and kitty's food and water.

I would like to get a hot water tap at the sink along with a water filtration system so we can get rid of the bottled water.

We will also be remodeling the 2 bathrooms adjacent to the kitchen...My head is spinning!

If there is anything else you need please let me know. I'm waiting for plans from a KD and then I can post exact measurements.

The living room/kitchen wall is 8'2'. I would like to keep the appliances where they are but am open to moving them. I also want a farmhouse sink and either a microwave drawer or built in to a lower cabinet.

I like the idea of a island but don't think I have enough room??? Prep sink would be nice but not a must. Dh isn't a cook.

Todds layout is similar to mine, it's so much easier to imagine in 3D!...Beautiful!

Speaking for myself, at least, I'm not sure what input you are looking for. You said you can't give us measurements until you have KD plans, and since you're in the process of getting KD plans, that might give us a place to start. I thought a layout like Todds could be a good option, and you said you like it, but, since you're looking for more input without further comment, there must be something that isn't making it 'it' for you.

Do you want layout advice or style/color advice? I think that if you love a style, and your house doesn't have a particular style, you can probably make it work...Since it isn't a heavily styled plan that would look out of place, like Old World with lots of detailing more appropriate to a certain age and style of house.

Please know that I'm not trying to scold or complain, just explaining why you may not be getting responses...We will be glad to help, but just don't know what you're asking for. :-)

Rhome - Thanks so much for the response. I think you hit the nail on the head. When it comes down to it, I really don't know what I want. I went to a home show yesterday and spent the day visiting a few kitchen design stores. I thought I had my heart set on white cabinets, but the ones I looked at just didn't seem "Right"??? The white was too bright, I may need to go with a custom cabinet, but I also saw stained wood cabinets that were beautiful. How do you choose???? I was hoping to be able to do semi-custom to try to keep the costs down since we're also doing 2 bathrooms.

I guess I may be putting the cart before the horse trying to imagine a new layout before I get a plan with the actual dimensions. I tend to obsess over things once I've made a decision to do something.

I do need style and color advice too! Since my rooms are open to each other, I want the rooms to work well with each other. I currently have a sage green, gold, burgundy scheme now. I want to lighten things up a bit, maybe green, gray, blue??? I bought the House Beautiful "Colors For Your Home" book today. I'm hoping something pops out at me!

I'm glad you didn't take offense. I really feel for you...wanting to get moving, but not yet quite ready or know in which direction to jump. Look, look, look at every book, magazine, and website you can see until you figure out what kitchens speak to you. Keep a file that you can refer back to. You can keep pics, not only of whole kitchens you like, but have elements or details you appreciate, too.

Please repost once you have some idea of what you want and very important to have exact measurements of the room.

While I love the white kitchens that seem to be all the rage that was not my style. I like the warmth of wood-whether it be oak, maple, cherry, birch, etc. Wood-stained or natural-is my cup of tea but may not be yours. Good advice to check out the Finished Kitchens Blog.

You could do trash pullout to the right of your sink, keeping the DW where it currently is located. Sink in front of window. That wall you were thinking of taking down could house your cooking zone. You have 98" there-30" for your stove leaving 68" which is a nice amount . Where your stove is now could be where the ref. lives with pantry to the right of the ref. if you think you want a pantry. Definitely drawers on lower cabinets-that's the one thing I would do if I was changing out my cabinets. Agree-the cabinets above the peninsula have to go. You could reconfigure the peninsula area to make it more functional for you or you could end your cabinet run with a cabinet to the left of the DW. Don't know if you have room for an island. Need the room measurements for that. There are others here who are much more skilled with functional layout design/advice. Green, gray, blue sound like good color choices.

Hang in there. It will all come together. Take your time. I was so excited about doing my kitchen that I rushed into some things and when I wanted to make some changes it was too late.
