Behr ceiling paint-is it good for kitchen ceiling?
Comments (2)First question, why are you using 123 to prime the ceiling. It is a great primer, but if you are not trying to block any stains, you are overspending on primer. Use a standard drywall primer, it is cheaper and will do just as well as 123. Second, Glidden makes a color changing ceiling paint that is far superior to the Behr. It goes on pink and dries white. It goes on pink so you can see any spots you have missed when painting the ceiling. It was designed specifically for the homeowner to fully paint a ceiling the first time. It is a good product that takes the guesswork out of painting a ceiling. You can spend more for ceiling paints such as the Benjamin Moore Muresco or Pratt and Lambert Skylight, but ceiling paint is still ceiling paint. The premium ceiling paints tend to be a softer white than a standard ceiling paint. Remember that the ceiling is there for looks, you are not usually touching or rubbing against the ceiling. High priced ceiling paints do a good job, but, in reality are not much better than the standard ceiling paints....See MoreChange ceiling paint? Picture included
Comments (7)Ok, I am revisiting this thread after a few days, and now I see the picture of the living room. With the can lighting on high, it sort of washes out the wall color of the HUSH, because it is a bit darker than the PAPER MACHE, and everything looks like PAPER MACHE or even MASCARPONE in the photograph. I think that it would help a lot to put those ceiling lights on a dimmer, and use some additional lighting in the room which has more "mood" to it. Like the table lamp along the front wall. It might give the room a bit more depth, which I think is what you are looking for. It is a really pretty room, great furniture, tasteful furnishings, and good flow to it. It might not be that the ceiling paint needs changing at all. Just moderate the amount of light....except of course when you are taking pictures to show us. :) Happy New Year....See MoreHelp identify this really low quality paint
Comments (9)Drywall compound has crossed my mind. But it peels and scrapes like paint, there are lots of drips and runs. It's possible it could be a mix of drywall compound and color changing ceiling paint. Or it might even be primer/drywall mix. It doesn't turn completely pink, there is just a faint blush to it when wet. After fully drying, it does not completely turn back to white. One of those real low rent paints, such as Property Solutions by SW has also crossed my mind. But since I have no experience with that product or those like it, I can't be sure. At any rate, I need to do lots of scraping, and power sanding of the walls. A pole sander will barely touch the tip of the iceberg. Heavy brush marks, roller laps, drips, runs, sags, surface imperfections in previous coats covered up, roller fuzz, painted over cobwebs, etc..etc......See MoreSafe to change lights and ceiling fan with popcorn ceiling?
Comments (2)A standard mask affords minimal protection from asbestos fibers as they are so minute they pass right through. For adequate protection you need a fitted respirator with asbestos-filtering canisters, but you still need to worry about contamination you release into the air. Having said that, if you are only going to drill a few holes, you can handle the fiber release by putting a glob of shaving cream on the surface and using a drill at a low speed. The foam will trap any fibers and you can then wipe it away with a paper towel that you can dispose of in a plastic bag....See MoreFaron79
