Can you smell them????

Two pans of Monkey Bread are in the oven along with a Breakfast Casserole...nope...not having company...just fixing the kid a good breakfast and since I was gonna cook the casserole decided to make a couple pans of Monkey Bread...my kitchen smells wonderful!!! YA'LL COME ON OVER!!

Monkey Bread...

4 pack of biscuits...any kind...any flavor (i use WALMART brand)
a mixture of cinnamon/sugar (maybe one cup sugar and darken with cinnamon..I just pour it in and stir it till I think it looks dark with cinnamon)
one stick butter or margarine melted

Spray Bundt/Angelfood Cake pan with pam

quarter the biscuits and dip them in the sugar/cinnamon mixture..get them coated really well.

Throw in the bundt pan

After two cans are quartered and in the pan pour l/2 melted butter over them

quarter and dip the other two cans in the cinnamon/sugar mixture

pour the rest of the melted butter on

BAKE 350 for 35-40 minutes...

turn on to plate and eat and enjoy!

They call it monkey bread cause you pick it off with your fingers!

I can't barely smell phlox. I can't smell phlox at ALL. Period. And nobody tell me about zinc. I can smell everything except phlox. There isn't another of the flowers (or spices, or anything) I cannot smell if they have a smell. I also cannot taste BitrexTM. There are a few percent who cannot. I'm disappointed. It's supposed to be so murderously brutally bitter, and I can't find out. And yes, I can taste other bitter things. Dandelions, yuk, methylsulfonylmethane ugh; Tylenol, arggh, etc. Bitter soda water, nicely bitter. Swedish bitters, yup (but no thanks). Etc. I discovered about phlox some 20 years ago. My sister said, 'Ohhh... PHLOX!! I LOVE the smell of phlox". And she goes and bunches a bunch together and sticks her face in it. "Mmmmm!!" I try it and I'm like Dang! she's playing me. The stuff has no smell and she's pulling my leg...

I planted Sea Holly from seed, thought it looked nice in the picture, and of course, the name, Sea Holly, sounded nice. I was standing near the flower bed where I had planted it, one day, and I thought, did an animal die under my giant hosta, or something? Couldn't figure it out, until I finally went over and smelt the Sea holly, OMG, it really stunk. And it's not that pretty either, I'll soon be getting rid of it, I hope!

Soak them in a solution of Clorox and water. If you have a yard, spread them out on the grass in the sun for a day or more (take in at night). I had a mildewed quilt and this worked on it.

He mistook crocus bulbs for potatoes, Jannie? OMG, that's a riot! And the best part is catching him in the act! lolol Mine doesn't throw my stuff away but he puts it away WHILE I'm using it or before I'm done with it. It's not like I leave stuff lying around. For example, the other night I was making a pasta dish. I put the colander in the sink so I could drain the angel hair. Went to get the pot about 2 minutes later and the colander was gone! Gone! Where's the colander? Oh, he says- I thought you were done with it so I washed it and put it away. (Oh, I know what you're thinking, "Isn't he helpful! And look, he washes dishes!) Yeah, yeah..... it's not helpful to wash a perfectly clean item and move it as I'm preparing to dump boiling hot water in it! I asked him if he noticed the pasta boiling on the stove and he said he didn't, but he can spot a standing colander from 50 paces! He puts away salad fixings, too, before I've made the salad. It's ridiculous, I pull them out, he puts them away. I ask where's my lettuce and he says "I thought you were done with it." Um, see any bowls of lettuce anywhere, Einstein? lol Men. Grrrrr. Don't EVER let him retire, Clare! Find him a job. Give him a honey-do list that won't quit. Anything, but keep him busy outside! Oh, and how come Mr. "Place For Everything and Everything In Its Place" can't close the closet door in the LR? I close that bi-fold door about 20 times a day but if I say anything, I'm a nag.

Yep, I smell 'em and they're darn near as good as the ones I helped you make a few years back, Liz!

Has anyone ever added chopped pecans to this? Wouldn't that be good?

You can use your white dough recipe from your bread machine as well as buying the canned biscuit. It has a bit more texture but the taste is the same. Cut your dough in small bits roll as the recipe calls for and the only difference is you have to let it rise covered in your bundt pan until doubled in size. Drooling off to the kitchen now.........oh wait..wasn't there one posted at one time with bacon and peppers also called breakfast monkey bread...together they sound like a good excuse to start exercising.

Marlen's Pull Apart Bacon Bread...
(I've made it and it is yummy)!!

Pull Apart Bacon Bread ( by Marlen)

1 pkg (10 oz) bacon
3/4 c green pepper, chopped
3/4 onion, chopped
3 tubes (7-1/2 oz each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/2 c (2oz) shredded cheddar cheese

Cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving drippings. Crumble and set aside. In bacon drippings (or vegetable oil) cook green pepper and onion until tender. Cut biscuits in fourths and place in large bowl. Add sauteed vegetables, crisp bacon, margarine and cheese. Toss until thoroughly mixed. Place in a 10" tube pan or bundt pan coated with Pam. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes. Immediately invert onto serving plate. Serve warm.

Flames...I don't see why you couldn't add some pecan's...

The breeze is coming this way and I can smell them!

For a smaller version, I've used this many times.:

QUICK STICKY BUNS

1 pkg canned biscuits (10). Cut each biscuit in half and shape each into a ball.

Melt 3 Tbls butter
Combine:
Â½ c brown sugar, packed
1 tsp cinnamon
Â¼ cup chopped pecans
Mix well.

Dip each ball into melted butter and then roll in sugar mixture. Coat well. Arrange in center of a greased 8-inch round layer cake pan, leaving space between each for spreading. Combine remainder of sugar mixture with remainder of butter. Mix and spoon ver the balls.

Drizzle over all:2 Tbls dark corn syrup.
Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes. Invert onto plate immediately. Serve warm.

Can use coconut in place of pecans if desired.

Yum - your breakfast sounds awesome!

I make my "Monkey Bread" using Rhodes Texas rolls - they are fozen dough balls. I sprinkle the bottom of the bundt pan with pecans, then top with a syrup that a make from brown sugar, butter, milk, and cinnamon. I let them rise, then bake.

I'll definitely be giving this a try!

My loaf of bread turned out terrific this morning in the bread-maker. I have another one in while the machine's in a good mood! A new Black and Decker, but not dependable at all. Stay away from my particular model.

Ooh, that sounds so good.

I don't even think we can buy frozen biscuits around here. We have Pillsbury flaky rolls, crescents and breadsticks but I don't recall ever seeing biscuits frozen or otherwise. If I want a biscuit I make them with bisquick. I want a biscuit! LOL

Hi Anne,
Now you've got me curious! They advertise the Grands biscuits on tv all the time, and I assumed they would be available here in Ont. I'll have to take a look next time I'm at the store!
