Glow in the dark ceiling stars

Can anyone help me find these? I had them on my ceiling when I was a girl and loved them. My kids had ceiling stars on theirs too and now I can't find them anymore to put them on my grandsons ceiling! I know I could cut some stencils and use the glow paint, but I really wanted the decals. Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

Keep in mind that at some point you may want to repaint the ceiling. Could you paint over the decals?, or would they have to be removed? Decals are a pain to remove.

My grands have the stars, but they are not decals. They are just paper with glue like wallpaper. I assume that they will peel off with water like wallpaper does. I am pretty sure that my DIL got them at a wallpaper store.

Don't know where you can buy decals but they have plastic ones at OrientalTradingCo.com.

I hope it's okay to post excerpts from The Toronto Sun -- I kept it because news articles don't usually stay online very long, & this is from Jan/05. The article is by Tara Brautigam of the Canadian Press. (I've edited out everything but the pertinent parts! ;-) ) "Sun-powered material comes out of U of Toronto Researchers at the University of Toronto have invented an infrared-sensitive material that's five times more efficient at turning the sun's power into electrical energy than current methods. The discovery could lead to shirts and sweaters capable of recharging our cellphones and other wireless devices.... [The researchers] combined specially-designed minute particles called quantum dots with a polymer to make a plastic that can detect energy in the infrared. ... despite the surge in popularity of solar cells in the 1990s, we still miss half of the sun's power... ... the new plastic composite is, in layman's terms, a layer of film that "catches" solar energy... the film can be applied to any device, much like paint is coated on a wall.... The film can convert up to 30 per cent of the sun's power into usable, electrical energy. Today's best plastic solar cells capture only about six per cent. ... the advance would not only wipe away that inefficiency, but also resolve the hassle of recharging our countless gadgets and pave the way to a true wireless world. We are now veiled in Martie's clouds after a downright cerulean morning. "Weather" is definitely movin' in for tonight/tomorrow. I haven't listened to a forecast closely, but I the worst I expect is MAYBE some heavy snow early on quickly changeing to sleet and then to rain. The makins of a pretty gross day, in all liklihood! But I'll be inside painting so I don't really care that much. Good excuse to play with, cuddle (theraputically beat) a little dog, 'bug. (Do they dock the tails of Bouviers, 'bug?). The stageing held! I put the first coat of ceiling blue on the little part of ceiling over the 1st. floor door to the stairwell. I put the first coat of wall color on the remaining half of the north wall, the entire stairwell, and the remaining part of the east wall. As well as a third coat on the outlet, switch, cable, telephone covers. I've cleaned all the rollers, pans, and brushes. And I'm rewarding myself with a "wicked treat"... Hot Pastrami, with onions, ans swiss cheese. MMM-mmm! Helpmeet is a bit downcast, not having accomplished all he'd hoped; he's showered and headed down to the local eatery for a cold beer, some vittles, and some sports on HDTV. :) Martie, you story reminds me of a guy we used to see on the beach some years ago. He had a Saluki; beautiful dog! The acceleration "off the line" was simply amazing and it reminded me of a Cheetah... you know, how the spine really flexes with each leap. Anyway, that dog went nuts over a frisbee. Guy would throw it, dog would look at him, and run it down once released. Other dogs didn't stand a chance, UNLESS it landed in the water. Truly something to behold doing what he'd been bred to do. Your floral assortment is beautiful and thoughtful. I have a grocery store bouquet that arrived with my box of chocolates... all in pinks, reds. whites. I found some very nice chocolate (dark with a candied, edible flower on it, and milk chocolate cupid from an antique mould) and a humorous card for the helpmeet. Every single Valentine's Day he brings me something. Valentine's Day was Mum's favorite holiday (right up there with Easter; her baskets were a joy to behold). I wonder if Jerri will share some sentimental anecdote about her parents? I found those particularly fun and meaningful (in case you hadn't guessed). Just as I was leaving the garage to clean up the equipment I saw a guy with a dog waving to me. I waved right back and called out to him. His dog is a Labradoodle and he lives a few doors south of our home. He said he sees me all the time with Rex, and would love to stop by when I didn't have my hands full. We have several "new" neighbors and it will be fun to meet one more of them. It's important to know who to call when you need a cup of dog chow or when a dog goes AWOL (absent with out leash). ;) Drema, it's so nice to hear from you. I know you've had a lot on your plate, too. I like the way you've decided to "roll with it". Sometimes the simplest plants offer the most interesting colors... I'm a sucker for foliage, anyway, so anytime it offers up multiple colors I'm impressed. How sweet of you to "take Charlie" and give them a night out... . (another Mum anecdote: she used to take 5-6 yr. olds for an afternoon so a young mother could have some time to herself. She said it was easy to just sit and read stories and chatter for a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday.). More I want to say, but I've forgotten it by now. !

To follow up, the Juno lights as installed look good so far (although my kitchen is flooded with natural light right now, so I won't know for sure until it's dark out) - I took a chance but I love that there's an off/switch on each of the 3 bars (2 24's and 1 12) on the left hand side and a dimmer dial on the right, plus the on/off switch on the wall for all 3 (which are connected), so we can very much customize the amount of light is on and off each time we turn the switch on and off on the wall. or we can leave the wall switch on and use the on-bar controls. It's a lot more versatility than any other LED light that I've seen. And when on full blast the lights are pretty bright, and when dimmed they are pretty dim, so far. What I might do to get around the problem of having reflections on the shiny (Zodiaq cloud white) countertop, is use the stick-on diffusers provided with the environmental lights package, and put those on the Junos and not return them to environmental lights. One thing re environmental lights - they know their stuff, were VERY helpful and I'd love to work with them. I just prefer a dimmer dial. And Juno's customer service is not 24/7 like some electrical support shops - it's just M-F, which I didn't like as much. And the dimmer-dial LEDs we used aren't even on its website, for whatever reason. I tried to call its customer service line today to ask why they aren't on the website and make sure they still support them before deciding which to install - but they aren't available today (a Sunday). For what it's worth, the Juno bars we installed have a 5 year warranty and the environmental lights have a 3 year warranty. I'm not sure why the difference and it wasn't a big factor in deciding, but worthy of note.

I had those stickers in college and loved them!

You could make a mobile of the plastic ones that hang from the ceiling, but if you really want the decal/sticker ones try the Mall store, Natural Wonders, Zany Brainy or the Discovery store. Seems like I have seen them all over.

I just came back from a business trip and as a present (I always bring my two boys and DH a present when I return), I brough a bunch of glow in the dark ceiling stars for both my DSs (bought them at Discovery Channel Store which we don't have here where I live).

Anyway, I put them up with some putty I bought at an office supply store but I'm somewhat disappointed in how well they "glow". With my oldes DS being 4 1/2 and my youngest being 18 mo., they both sleep with nightlights. The light from the nightlights was enough so that the stars weren't really visibly glowing. :-(

Try to expose them to really bright lights first, then they might glow a little stronger. Maybe you could turn off the night light and sit in there with them to stargaze, then as you leave turn the nightlight back on?

Teresa, that's an excellent suggestion, thanks! And my kids thank you, too (the nightlight isn't that big a deal for the 18 mo old but it is for my 4 1/2 yo...

Personally, I think the stars are way cool! Something dreamy to look at as you drift off to sleep...

I was going to say the Discovery Channel store -- I've seen them there. Most other educational toy stores have them too... a word of warning though -- my niece's nursery had some on her ceiling when she was a baby, and some of them fell off and into her crib. If you kids are infants, be careful (they could be a choking hazard)! Good luck =)

I've seen them at the Dollar General stores. I love them too. My son used to have his entire ceiling covered with them when he was young. I think my husband and I liked them as much as he did. Wouldn't mind having some on our bedroom ceiling now! :)))

Target has the stickers and plastic ones. Found them in both the toy dept and the party favor section. Just painted DD's room powdery sky blue, and put the stars on the ceiling (the sticker kind). I love going in there at night myself. It's like a galaxy up there! I told DH I want some for our room, now! :-)

They don't seem to glow from outdoor sunlight (i.e. if I leave curtains open during the day). They only seem to get a charge from the overhead light being on for a few minutes.)

By the way, I also got her a new Barbie that is plush for sleeping with, and she has hair that glows in the dark. DD loves her new room and new Barbie!

If you use a small black light in the room they will glow all the time especially the stick ons.I took the stick ons,and put them on my bathroom ceiling,my son added star trek and the moon.and put up some vines and flowers,added the black light over a little shelve,and you think you are outside.

i've heard there's a glow in the dark paint. spatters of this, say with a toothbrush, would look more like the outdoors.

I bought mine at a novelty store called Spencer's, but have also seen them at Target and Walmart. This time of year is a good time to look for them because they somehow usually get placed in Halloween section.
We have over 200 scattered in kids bedrooms, and I just put an extra one I found over my own bed...kind of a north star.

The original brand is Starscapes. My dad used to be a business rep for promoting it.
It comes as a can of glow paint, and a star map to show you where the stars go, to actually represent the patterns in the heavens.

My daughter has these stars on her ceiling. I don't remember where I bought them. But she's 16 and some of the stars are still on her ceiling and they STILL GLOW!

If you like the stickers you should really check out Starscapes. A local Starscapes Artist will hand paint the realistic starry night on ceilings and/or walls in your home. The finished mural is truly awesome and is nothing like the stickers. You don't even see the paint during the day!
