This thread can open up a real can of worms. 1. Speaking of work: Co-workers who can't clear the remaining time off of the microwave oven after their food is done and they don't need all the time they programmed into it. They also don't cover their food and when it splatters everywhere, and don't wipe up the mess. Co-workers who use the sink as a garbage disposer. Just dump their leftovers and walk away leaving the person who needs to wash their dishes to clean out the drain. Co-workers who eat out and put their leftovers in the fridge for ever and ever, Amen. Hello, who do you think is going to clean it out the magical refrigerator fairy. Even when the refrigerator smells ripe they act like it wasn't their food even though their name is on the container. Even though I really don't want to go to the bathroom habits we have several people who use the stall (you can hear them) then exit the stall and the door. OMG, I am never touching anything you touch again. You just used the bathroom at least splash some water somewhere! One woman at work brings in homemade food all the time and then wonders why nobody eats it. I can go on and on about the laziness in ladies rooms, but it isn't worth my effort or your time. I can say that men should consider themselves lucky. 2. Driving People who don't know what a turn signal is for. I see new cars just off the car lot (temporary tags) who must not have turn signals. Excuse me. Since when are turn signals optional on a car. Are they just on the steering column for decoration? Guess it takes too much effort to reach over and turn it on, or are you on the cell phone? I learned to drive during the "defensive driving campaign" where you were taught if you always let the driver in front of you and the driver behind you know what you are going to do before you do it chances are you won't be in an accident. These are just a few. I could go on and on and on and on. But, I'll spare you all the pain............on second though I'm just too lazy to type anymore. Jenny

Wow! I thought my son was bad but still ... I can relate on some level to these comments and stories. I always say no one can break your heart like your own child. It's a different kind of heartbreak that slices through to your soul. My son is a good young man but man oh man is he stubborn. Stubborn to the point it's heartbreaking. Just got off the phone with him asking what are his plans for the future. His response was, "You know, I am not going to talk to you because you just disrespected and insulted me." I'm thinking, "How on earth is asking what your future plans are disrespecting and insulting?" He just doesn't want to plan a future, no goal, no college, nothing. Next he'll go on silence for a while. Mind you, he was married a little over a year ago, New Year's Eve 2013. After I told him he's too young at 25. Young in terms of not planning a future. He went and married anyways to prove me wrong. Well, I was right, now he's going through a divorce. His wife is divorcing for the same reason I am questioning him ... no ambition. But he can't see the ocean because of the waves. My son is an only child who has had the best life. Better than all his cousins by a long shot but he can't see this either. He complains and blames. For what?! I have no idea. I made his life so comfortable. Yes, it is narcissism. He feels he doesn't have to do anything. Both his father and I, who never married are products of education. We both pursued college degrees and entered the workforce. His father was never really a part of his life but he sent monetary support. Me, I was the sole breadwinner with a nice career that I grew tired of and now back in college to make a career change. So I have no idea how to motivate him and at times feel I am at fault. Maybe it's me and my expectations. Well, I'm going to heed the words I've lived with all my life that have served me well - If you don't know what to do then pray. And I'm going to speak with a therapist. I need some counseling. One child, two children, three children ... it doesn't matter. I have one and it's just as hard.

I just remembered another "cinematography" movie, "The Shape of Water." I found the plot a tad nonsensical even though it is fantasy fiction, and slow, but the cinematography is fantastic. And speaking of Julianne Moore, another cinematography movie she is in is "Far From Heaven." It's a gorgeous homage to the late 50s which is odd since the plot is not remotely related to the scenery, but maybe that is also a commentary. Lots of social commentary in that movie, which made the acting a little wooden, IMHO, but actually still relevant as far as the content.

Deanna, Gardenia is one of my all time favorites! I won't be able to grow it outdoors here either, but what I did do a few summers ago, was I bought a small plant and used two of them in my outdoor pots for the summer. It was HEAVENLY! I did try bringing it in the house to overwinter, but I just don't have conditions they like. And this season I was going to do it again and I got busy and forgot! Next year for sure! They do grow well outdoors in a pot here, because it's plenty hot and humid enough for them. Martinca - I remember that thread about how difficult they are to grow, but I thought it was as an indoor houseplant? They aren't hardy enough here, although like Camellias there may be some varieties that have been recently developed. But in the south they are no care at all, as you pointed out. Before I had children, and no outdoor garden my mother loved Gardenias so we tried to grow them as houseplants. We did finally manage to have success with them, but it really was a project! [g]
