We have a local dentist who "buys back" any Halloween candy at $1 per lb. My kids usually skim off a few favorites then are perfectly happy to get rid of it.

The piles and aisles of candy in the stores are stunning this time of year. Mostly I'm never tempted except by the occasional mini peanut butter cup, which I find to be the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter middle.

We don't get many Trick or Treaters here so I make sure I buy something I like...it doesn't go to waste.

Barnmom, I wish we could trade abodes for the night. I love Halloween and have never lived anywhere where I could give out candy.

We have a buyback thing too, for unopened bags. Goes to the military, I think.

I have always given it to DH to take to school to hand out to his students to--well I was going say to reward good behavior but that doesn't happen often with his group (EH)--bribe them.

Great idea! DG's will have had 4 Halloween events by Monday night. J said he was going to donate his candy. Mom approves, but doesn't know where this 7 yr old heard about it! We know and love Operation Gratitude!

We love Halloween! We want the kids to come to the door. We deck the porch out in all it's goulish Halloween decor, give out King Size candybars and love the costumes the kids and teens wear. If there are any candybars left over, we keep a few for ourselves and then bring the rest into work. Our trick or treat night is Sunday. We will see how many kids we get with the 3-5 inches of snow the weathermen are predicting for Saturday night! Happy Halloween everyone, NancyLouise

we also have Trick or Treat Saturday....If the weather is nice....as it's supposed to be....I can get a lot. I only bought for 100....but know that I will give several mini bars to kids I know....maybe I better buy more....
I try not to have anything but chocolate left over!!....best I go buy some more of those mini packs of M and M's!!

There is a dentist here who is collecting left over candy and they are packing it up to send to the soliders along with the tolietries that are sent. I thought that was a really good idea.

Any teachers' faculty room would devour leftovers in short order. Don't ask me how I know.

DH eats as much as he can and I take the rest to work. And add it to the piles of candy other people have brought.

This is the beginning of the season of holiday food in the office. From now till Christmas there will be food for the taking hanging around in the kitchen at work. Oh boy.

I know now its a race to get the chocolate Halloween candy on clearance. I break up chocolate bars, Snickers bars and such and use them in Christmas cookies. The wrapper color doesn't matter then.
