I love waking up and knowing it's still nighttime, so I can roll over and go to sleep again.
I love the sound of the first peeper frogs in the spring. Still haven't heard them this year, but looking forward to it!
I love the questions my 3-year-old son comes up with. He's the joy of our lives!
I love going *home* to my mom's house where me and siblings were all raised with love. I have a great great mom whom I love very much!
I love holding our cat (19 years old) like a baby and hearing his quiet purr.

Henk, I planted a "Diggy" last summer and I wanted to see a more mature specimen. I got it from a nursery in Wisconsin without knowing anything and later found nothing on the web. Yours looks great. Mine had a hard first winter but is still alive. Thanks for the picture. Gary

Re: being mortgage free. To be honest, I have been mortgage free three times. The first time was in our first small town home which we had paid off by saving every penny and before children( our interest rate was 18% - ouch). Then family came along and we needed a bigger home so basically what we got for our first mortgage free home when we sold it was our down payment for the second home. Then we paid off that but then we decided that our home was falling apart around us (literally and physically) so we borrowed against the value of our home for a gut-renovation. That mortgage we just paid off 2 weeks ago. In hindsight, given the real estate values we should have kept the townhome and rented it out. But, who knew? Our goal was to be mortgage free by the time we were 60 and we just made it.The latest Canadian stats I can find are from 2008 and it says that the average age of those with a mortgage is 45 and those now mortgage-free is 62. I suspect the 62 has risen a little bit. But it really is about personal choice on how we spend our money.

Coffee Sushi The Bachelor/Bachelorette shows George Clooney-I don't get why everyone thinks he is so great Wearing Ugg boots, with shorts, when you live in LA (or a warm place) and it's 75 degrees out! People who are glued to their phones/blackberry. You aren't the president, your messages are not critical to the rotation of the earth! Rye bread Sour cream Soda & iced tea Violent Horror movies-I'm not entertained by seeing blood & gore. and lastly, no one likes this, but it goes on here at the KT...people who try to intimidate you and talk over you to prove their point. They'd rather talk you to death then ever admit they were wrong.

    Harry

The fact it's 35 degrees today and the sun is almost out!

My lilac-painted, Victorian-flavored sewing room filled with books, audio books, four sewing machines, a serger, and a lifetime of photos.

The feeder stations set up so I can see the birds, up close, from the living room and sewing room.

Gangly kids that seem to want to hold doors open for me. They're seeing "that old woman" when I approach! LOL

The fact my car and house are paid for.

    Sam

My Air Force memories and friends.

My childhood friends and my "Mayberry-esque upbringing."

British comedies and mysteries...and the friend that has gifted me with so many sets! She knows how much I love, and miss, England.

    Fragrant petunias

    My rock garden

The way Harry smells after running all day through the warm prairie fields. It's a combination of hay, sunshine, and fresh-turned earth.

My small, dark, cozy den with the computer that keeps me in touch with people all over the world. It broadens my horizons, educates me, entertains me, makes me laugh, and cry, and shake my head in amazement. In the winter, it's the warmest room in the house with a lovely tree-filled view. In the summer it's the coolest room in the house!

The list could go on, and on, and on...

A drive in a scenic area

In short, the simple things in life.

I like a latte, fresh and hot, and I've come to prefer one in the afternoon instead of morning. At the end of the work day, when it comforts me. Gets me ready for the evening.

I love to sleep in. Hardly ever get to, so when I have a morning when I don't have to be anywhere I love to stay in bed and stay in that soft place between sleep and awake where you are relaxed and you are aware of how relaxed you are.

Spending a day with a friend. Had a Saturday last fall when an old friend was in town, we spent it at an outdoor book festival on a quaint downtown square and had lunch at a great French cafe. Soooo nice! I even said to her in the moment how I felt so relaxed and sort of one with myself. That "find yourself" moment recharges the batteries for a long time.

I love taking the kids to the pool on a hot summer day and being so completely worn out from the play time that we just fall asleep smelling chlorine and cut grass.

Visiting my parents, sitting around their fire pit roasting marshmallows.

Fourth of July. I love the Fourth of July, parade, concert in the park, cook out, and fireworks. It's an annual family reunion for us, we go to Ohio to the town where I was born and most of my family still lives. Love to see my cousins and our kids playing together.

Just thinking about these things makes me feel better. ;o) It's been a long week already!
