Craftsman Garage Door Opener, neither remote works
Comments (83)I got a problem with my garage opener in past few days. I can close the door when I leave for work but cannot open the door when I come home. At first I thought the trouble is caused by cold weather. Then I thought is the board gone bad. However, when I get the remote close to the antena, everything works fine. Finally I observe that my garage door open/close indicater(Made by Craftsman) both lights are flashing(red and green). Therefore I disconnet the AC power on the receiver then test out the garage door remote. Surprisely, everything works like a charm. The trouble is caused by the unit that attached to the garage door runs out the battery. I bet the receiver unit was sending signal to find the door unit consistenly which interferences the signal of garage door remote control, including my keypad door opener. After I replace the battery on the door unit, everything is back to normal. Just want to share with anyone who has the same situation. Signal interference will cause the trouble to remote control....See MoreStep up/down to a playroom or dining room?
Comments (15)One more vote to explore raising the ceiling instead of lowering the floor. In addition to lowering your home's value and making it a "definite no" to a lot of future buyers, you would make your house more dangerous to young children, older visitors and completely off-limits to anyone with accessibility issues. I live with brain injury I sustained at age 32 caused by tripping. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but it ended my career, as well as any potential to do anything else. It wouldn't take much for a guest to trip and crack their head. Would you be able to live with that if they sustained the damage I did? Could you afford the lawsuit that might be leveled against you? The increase in your homeowner's insurance if they knew you had that danger in your house? PLEASE don't do this. I apologize for the strong response. I just can't stand the thought of someone living with the headaches, vertigo, nausea, blurry vision, memory loss, etc. etc. I face every day. Especially if it can so easily be avoided....See MoreLoba 2K Supra A.T. coating questions
Comments (44)Actually, I think you might be fine to move forward with your final 2 coats of Loba 2K Supra AT (for 3 coats total). One of the exceptions to this is if you need something to prevent side bonding with your wood. Look up side bonding and then figure out if you think it is going to be a problem for you in your climate. That's the main thing that the WS EasyPrime prevents is side bonding; in addition, it brings out a rich wood color and helps the first coat of Supra AT to go on more evenly. If you like the color that you have now and side bonding is not a huge concern, then you would probably be better off to move forward rather than trying to sand that floor down again as that could create some brand new issues for you. It's probably not the end of the world that you skipped the hardener on the first coat. If anything, it might make the upper two layers a little more prone to impact, but this coating has a lot of flex built into it, and if you can live with the risk, it might be acceptable for your application. If this is an expensive home with a heavy grand piano or big dogs with claws, then reconsider leaving that first coat unhardened. Also, if this is an area where heavy appliances will be moved or set, I would also consider a re-do. Although I've worked a lot with WS EasyPrime and Loba 2K Supra AT, I'm not a professional, and Loba has an excellent customer service department, at least in the USA where I have utilized it, so if you are able to call and talk to a company representative, that would be the best option for professional advice on your situation. You may find it interesting to know that Loba makes a product called 2K InvisibleProtect AT which is designed to be used alone, without primer, in order to keep the wood as natural a color as possible. Some people have had issues trying to apply InvisibleProtect AT without a primer first, but it can be done. The 2K Supra AT is not usually used for this because it does impart more of a darkening effect than the InvisibleProtect AT--therefore primer doesn't take away from the final effect when Supra AT is used, and there are benefits to primer (side bonding prevention mainly), so it is standard procedure to use the WS EasyPrime under Supra AT. Note that Supra AT is overall more durable than InvisibleProtect AT, though both are outstanding finishes....See MoreTo keep or not to keep? Half wall separating kitchen fr family room
Comments (29)We are lucky to have the vault overhead, but I honestly don’t feel that loss of height anymore. It was noticeable at first, but we adjusted quickly. Is the ceiling the same level as your kitchen? If so, I think once you have the continuous floor level, lose the wall and maybe the beams, it would eventually feel normal too. I think I would feel more of that in your kitchen with those lighting soffits. As for your fireplace, yes you have a bit more demo, but I bet you could pull that cabinetry and rebuild it again - or leave it out. I demo’d the brick on our old FP. We were both recovering from catching 🇨🇳🦠 and I was getting out frustration. Our whole first floor was draped in plastic because they’d scraped the old acoustic texture off ceiling, but it was in a dirty, dusty limbo because we were sick 🤬. I still had some pneumonia, so I should have had a dust mask, but I didn’t really care. Swinging the sledge was cathartic. Hubs & friend pulled the firebox. That was a bigger job, but we agree that in the end it was one of the better improvements we made. No regrets at all! The flooring is a long story, but briefly it was a special order board of 3/4” engineered white oak with black fill. They are 8’ T&G boards. The color is nearly natural they call Shalke (think chalk. It’s a slight whitish tint, but still quite transparent) prices may have gone up - like everything, but we got it for well under $10 sf.! Check out https://www.heidelbergflooring.com. They’ll work very closely with you. Ps, thanks! It’s been a journey. We love it all too 😊...See Morekatiee511
