Cleaning stained basalt floor tiles
Comments (0)I just renovated recently and my contractor was in a rush to finish up the project (he had 8 weeks) as I had to move in by this weekend. I had basalt floor tiles put in my kitchen and I don't think he cleaned it well before sealing them. Now there's spots that looks like stains on the tile itself. Can someone suggest how I can remove those stain spots? Some of it is paint and others, I'm guessing grease? Do I have to remove the sealant before attempting to clean them? It's such a bummer as those stone tiles are so beautiful. Any help is appreciated. I'd try to post some pictures after I move in this weekend. Thanks!...See MoreKitchen countertops
Comments (2)I have Wilsonart Galactic Black in my current kitchen. The edge is a simple square edge, the rounded edges never grabbed me. I chose not to get a backsplash but carried the wall backsplash down to the countertop. I has worn well over the last 3 years, looks like new and I really like it. I'd get laminate again if I hadn't gotten an undermount sink. As far as trends go, I try to avoid them because sure enough the only way a trend can go is back the way it came eventually and then there you are on the wrong end of it. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: galactic black...See MoreSedona Trail or Basalt Slate Choice in Countertop
Comments (11)The gem lock stuff is an expensive choice for what you're actually getting. And it reminds me way too much of the old laminate counters with wood edges that builders did in homes. It's a look that I do not think will ever be popular or age well, especially with a contrasting edge. The Basalt Slate is a much much better look with your cabinets. It's clean and simple....See MoreWhat color cabinets with basalt slate counters?
Comments (12)Okay, until I find the cord to upload photos from my camera I cna post new photos. The clickable thumbnails are from when we came to look at the house before purchasing it. The floor is a moot point as I intend to change that at one point. This will be one of those painfully slow remodels. However even my 3 year old said the floor had to go after I showed him and his 6 year old brother the pictures of Old Skool's kitchen. They both loved the black cabinets btw. So the sink wall is on the left of this photo and that is the one with the new single bowl sink and the DW. The smooth top electric stove is long gone, replaced with a stainless steel capitol gas range. The range is now on the window wall with cabinets on either side. The fridge is curently a slightly bigger white one then the one in the photo. However when funds allow I want a french door fridge, not sure of finish as I am addicted to fridge magnets but love stainless. I so loved the black cabinets that I keep wondering if there is a way to make the black on black work. Thanks for all the ideas. I have pieces of the wood form the cabinets that were trimmed off to make the sink base smaller so at one point I can test colors. -Robin...See Moreelba1
