A smell of bread in the air ...

... makes my taste-buds sing.

I left the spare bedroom door open, so the aroma came wafting out.

When I checked, there was 25 minutes yet to bake.

I like paying about 35 - 50 cents for a loaf, rather than $2.35 - 2.50.

My loaves are a bit puffy at the top.

I just had an idea ... I wonder what would happen if, as it was rising, I turned it on its side? That should help the puffy part be less pronounced, being on top of a shorter volume.

I'd need to turn it right-side up before it began baking, though, for the heater is on the botrtom, making heat rise under the loaf, but at one end of an elongated loaf wouldn't bake very well, I think.

Any suggestions?

I hope that you're having a fine week.

Snow melted some today, as it was thawing a bit, but still quite a bit left.
