Lurker coming out to play

Hi all - I finally decided to come out of the woodwork and introduce myself. I've been a lurker here for quite awhile and feel like I know each of you. As you can tell from my user name, I live in Seattle. I work full-time and have two cats. My husband was killed in a car accident 7 years ago so I'm single at the moment.

P.S. I brought some chocolate decadence cake to the table to share.

Welcome, Linda. Tell us more about your cats, the kind of work you do...all that stuff friends "talk" about. Glad to "see" ya! Seattle's a nice town. DH and I visited a couple of times...liked the ferry system a lot. We had sparklingly beautiful weather and no rain when we came even though we were expecting it.

You won't believe how easy the bottle was...after getting all the glue from the lable off I etched it with Armour Etch (got it at Michael's) make sure the bottle is dry then run a string of 20-35 Christmas lights in through the mouth of it...cut apart silk flower picks from the local craft store to be able to make your own floral design arrange them to hide the cord coming out the back and add a bow (mine was raffia)....that is it...Hope that helps Marlene 2008

Sharon (canarybird), my inlaws met on Majorca. Ironically neither of them is from Spain. LOL She was a Dutch stewardess with KLM and he was an American physician traveling around Europe. So romantic (gagging sounds). LOL I have been here on and off for 8 1/2 years now! I think I was first directed here from a search about philodendrons, hence my user name. Then I slowly meandered to the cooking forum. I check in from time to time - something got me thinking about the group yesterday and I decided to log on. :) I have three wonderful children, ages nearly 6 (in two days!), 3, and 8 months. I am married to a teacher of economics and history and we live on the campus of a boys' boarding school in New York state, not that far from Stacy3. In my spare time LOL I love to sew, read, cook, and blog. I have a private blog for friends and family to keep up with the kids, and it's been a blast to keep it up in various forms since David was a mere tot. I have another blog that talks mostly about motherhood, childbirth and pregnancy called The Deranged Housewife, of which our very own Netla was gracious enough to "follow," putting me on the map that is Google Search. (Thank you, Netla!) (A native of Iceland, she has a wonderful blog with photos too, that I often look at ...just a quick plug there...LOL) I am a freelance writer/editor/sort of graphic designer and work from home when I can get assignments. Most of my work now is volunteering my graphic design "skills" (I use that term lightly sometimes LOL) for my son's school. I enjoy cooking not so much for the meal preparation but I love feeding people. I consider it such a wonderful blessing to have family or guests around my table to cook for. I overheard a woman at the store the other day talking about how she's going on a Mexican vacation over Christmas and is excited to not have to cook. I thought, you can keep your vacation because I'd rather cook for my friends and family! And now I must stop blathering on in order to prevent my infant son from eating the Persian rug...excuse me.

Count me in on the Lurker stage. I use to belong here many moons ago and said something to upset Spike (he would never tell me what it was) I was left in the dark on that one, sent me to Disney, so I just never said another word. Read behind the curtain so to speak. I just find comfort and wisdom here so keep coming back to.......lurk. Thanks for all the wisdom I've gained, the beautiful pictures I've seen, the families I feel I've gotten to know and for getting to watch the kids grow up and the new babies coming...I'd like to belong again even tho sometimes I just have nothing to say. Welcome to the table, Linda. New friends are always a treat, and the choc cake is a plus!! I live in central Virginia, retired now, never been to Seattle. DD2 lives in San Diego, so DH and I hope to make a trip out, and drive all the way.... up the coast..... as far as your state, one of these days. From what I have seen in pictures, and on TV, it is beautiful there!
And my condolences on losing your husband.

Hey Linda. Nice of you to join us. So, you're a cat lover. Us too, though we currently don't have any, but did for many, many years.

We've been to Seattle as we have friends there, one of which is coming here later this week. Always a great place to visit.

Welcome to the table, and thanks for bringing one of my favorite things to eat...chocolate cake.

Glad you decided to do more than listen ... but to talk some, too (well, where we can hear, anyway).

If you've been lurking for a while, you'll have learned what a friendly, helpful place this is ...

... and I love choklit, too - so thanks for the stuff that you brought.

Heck - we even give out free hugs, when you need 'em, as well - what more could one ask for?
