LOL! This brings back memories! When I was about 6 years old I used to pull them up & try to sell them. I made a sign - "Fresh Onions - Just Picked! 5 cents a bunch" & sat in front of my house. Believe it or not, I actually made about a dollar. Of course people bought them because I was "cute" - not because they needed onions. It also helped that I sold 5 bunches to my grandfather. LOL!

Round up will certainly kill poa a., but it will also kill your bermuda if you spray. If it's time to fertilize then go ahead and do it. The poa is there, and will be there if you fertilize or not. Sure the fertilizer will benefit the poa, but it's not going to take over your grass any faster. Plus you will be soon mowing your bermuda frequently which will keep its height in check, although it will still persist and produce seed till the summer heat takes care of it (or not, depends on the poa). The round up on the glove method is just as it sounds. Roundup is absorbed through the blades or leaves of whatever plant it contacts. So to kill just the poa you need to get Roundup on just the poa. If it is sufficiently longer than the Bermuda then you can just grab the poa with a glove wetted with Roundup, just don't touch the Bermuda. It's pretty time consuming, probably takes about the same amount of time as cutting the poa out of your lawn.

I recently bought a home that was surrounded by and had numerous "orange" lily beds. I would say they numbered, at minimum in the thousands. For those of you who like these, good for you. I did not plan on putting any more of these into the ground but did have to come up with a way of removing them from my landscaping scheme. I had 2 areas. One, around my entire home. I buzzed them all down with a hedge trimmer. Put a weed guard over the exposed bulb stumps and topped that with about 4 inches of mulch. My problems arose where the weed gird has its edges. Around the perimeters and where the holding stakes pop through the barrier itself. They are coming back here and there as I predicted in these areas so I am using a chemical that breaks down when in contact with the soil, as most do and will not have long term effects. It is a work in progress but a controled one. Second Area . . . flower beds removed in my yard. Had success! I mowed the lillies to the ground with a weed trimmer as close to soil as I could. I then soaked them, and only the bunches with a degrading chemical. This did it. They are done in these areas and are decomposing and not returning. In addition, the grass seed I had planted is growing fine. I wish I would have done this with the ones under the mulch but I have learned for future. I hope this helps with anyone with this problem and you can use this in your own situations.

Those pinholes do look like flea beetle damage but I haven't found any flea beetles. These beetles are much larger (about the size of a Japanese beetle) and fly, don't jump. I suspect they are causing the large holes in the peppers. They seemed to disappear after the rain, but they're back today. Hope these are better pix: Damage They seem to like to burrow in the bark mulch - I wonder if they came in with it, or maybe the grubs were in our soil anyway? I'm wondering if mulching with newspaper covered with grass clippings would be better? Though we have used bark mulch for years with no problem?
