Does anyone have this double bowl sink?

I'm considering a double bowl sink for my kitchen. I like the looks of the 3221L sink from MR Direct. I've searched the threads and can't find anyone commenting on a sink with this huge bowl/tiny bowl configuration. I only have a 33" sink base, so I can't do the Ticor 405D. The 3221L sink gives me about the same size large bowl as the 405D, but can only fit a tiny bowl on the left. Since it's only 5" deep, is water going to splash everywhere? Is it too small to be of any use? Or is it just enough to keep small items handy for quick rinses, etc? I only handwash large pots and pans or small prep items (measuring cups, spoons, etc.) as I'm working, so I don't need a double bowl for major dishwashing.

This is the only sink in the kitchen (no prep sink), so I'm hesitant to go to a single bowl. I do and lot of cooking and baking from scratch, so I'd like a sink large enough for my big pots and baking sheets. Does anyone have any experience or input regarding the sink below? Thanks,

I have one like that only with the little bowl on the left side and I love mine. The garbage disposal is in the little side so even when there's stuff in the big side, I can still dump stuff into the gd. My prep space is on the left so I can sweep things in as I'm prepping regardless of what's in the main sink. Also the little side is perfect for water thawing things like shrimp,etc.

Thanks for the info laxsupermom. Do you have any problem with water splashing out of the small side? This one is 7 wide by 5 inches deep. We're undermounting in 3 cm granite, so we'll gain another inch below the countertop surface, but I'm wondering if trying to rinse small prep items in such a tiny bowl is more trouble then it's worth. Besides having the two drains so the garbage disposal is always available, is there a reason you prefer this style to a large single bowl?

Baquinn, I have a different Blanco sink, but it was large too. I have the equal double bowl undermount Performa (33 by 20 and 10 inches deep). Fortunately, my GC caught the specs and so we were able to ammend the plans prior to fabrication of the cabinet and counter. We did pull the sink base cabinet forward. Initially this was supposed to be a straight counter edge, but you can see the curve we put in to accommodate the sink. I am happy we did. I really like my big sinks. The larger sinks are another favorite thing about my renovation. I hand wash a lot of items, so this sink has made the job so much easier. On another note, everybody's renovations have their fair share of setbacks and frustrations. It's never smooth sailing. It's definitely a process and it will be complete one day and you will really enjoy it! If a large sink is a priority for you, don't settle on a smaller one just for time. There will be more than one hiccup and you want to have the kitchen you really want because you are the one who will be living with whatever decisions you come to. Hang in there!

Generally the faucet will go between the two bowls right at the divider, that way your faucet will swing into each bowl, there is also usually a "dip" down to the smaller bowl from the larger bowl. The soap usually goes on one of the corners. Depends on what you're putting in the despenser I suppose, dish soap ? put it on the corner of where you'll be washing dishes, hand soap ? guess it doesn't matter there. Also your templater should have some idea, surely he's seen a few or templated a few tops & have some suggestions, allthough the final decision is yours. The Presenza from Costco is the better choice because it is made of thicker steel. The thinner 20 ga. steel is too thin for sinks, and you will not be happy with it. A 16 ga. sink is even better. The Presenza sink is made in China as is the Glacier Bay sink. A better choice for you may be an asymmetrical sink with a small bowl paired with a larger. The small bowl is handy for food prep, and the disposer should be placed in this bowl to dispose of scraps. This one is from Franke, but almost all stainless manufacturers have one or two. Most sink accessories can be purchased separately. A cutting board designed to fit over the sink, is a common item at Amazon. A strainer can just sit in the bottom of the sink. It does not have to slide along the edge. But if you want one that hangs on the edge, try something like this, from Amazon: One accessory that is useful and usually must be obtained from the manufacturer is the grid, which prevents a lot of scratches on the sink bottom. Be careful of zero-radius sinks. Those sharp corners are hard to clean.

We have a high gooseneck faucet and there was a definite learning curve re: splashing. I don't think the little bowl is particularly splashy as long as you keep your hands in the bowl vs. above, but that's true for the big bowl, too. Our sink is undermount in a butcherblock top, so I'm obsessive about wiping up any drips around the faucet or elsewhere after every use. There usually isn't much of anything to wipe up unless my 4yo was playing in the sink.

Hard to tell from picture:

I posted on the IPE Juparana post a 70/30 sink.
It's nice if you run the "junk" for the garbage disposal in this small area only then use the left side to rinse.

Thanks laxsupermom; I'm not planning on a very tall faucet, so it sounds like splashing won't be too bad.

I'm not sure about the ratio of this sink. The overall size including outer flange is 32", the inside width of the larger bowl is 21.5" and the smaller bowl is 7".
