Embossed dryer sheet

I stamped and embossed an unused dryer sheet and then soaked it to get the softener out. I'm not too impressed. You have to really put the sheet over a piece of card stock to see the image. The image came out great tho. On the photo you can see that one looks ragged that is because the heat gun started to melt the first image. I don't think it is worth it. I'll stick to Mulberry paper I think.

Thanks so much to experimenting, Minnie! Don't be too discouraged... you would probably be putting the embossed dryer sheet on a piece of card stock (as in a greeting card) when you actually use it anyway, so it would show up then.

Did the image look appreciably better before you washed it? Did any of the embossing 'wash' off? Do you think it is necessary to wash it after embossing?

Frankly, I think they look GREAT! I'll have to get to "The Store" and get some embossing stuff/.

I don't think you'd have to wash it after embossing but it would be kind of slippery and have a nice smell to it. No the embossing did'nt wash out I used gold embossing powder and some other color might have been better under the circumstances.

The unit I have is electric. Gas is also available. There are currently three models (six if gas & electric are counted separately). DG62T27CW2, DG62T27DW2, & DG62T27GW2 are the gas models. They differ in control panel layout and choice of cycles/options. CW2 and DW2 are labeled AeroSmart and are marketed as matches to F&P's AquaSmart washers with matching control panels (CW2 has an LCD panel with capacitive touch buttons, DW2 has soft-touch buttons and no LCD). GW2 has soft-touch buttons (no LCD) and matches the panel of the EcoSmart washer. Any model of course can be used with any brand/model of washer. GW2 is equivalent to the older DEGX1 that I have.

I love dryer sheets in my athletic and cycle shoes and to use in drawers...but I NEVER use them in the dryer. Miele even specifically say NO NO to this.

Don't have this dryer but I have a T9822 whose manual says don't use dryer sheets. Doesn't say anything about fabric softener in the wash. The filter in my dryer is like a fine mesh screen. You cannot see the holes in it which is actually much better than the filter in my previous model that looked like a screen you would see in a window, and it traps so much lint i have to clean it after each use or the dryer complains. I have a dedicated handheld vacuum that I use to clean this screen because it is so fine nothing else really cleans it well. In that previous model using dryer sheets clogged up that window screen filter so much that I would have to clean it under hot running water. I could remove the lint but a film was left. This makes me think that Miele is advising not to use dryer sheets in the machine because it will clog up your filter, your moisture sensor and who knows what else in the machine.

It might be neat to stamp ghosts on some and then frame them in a window for a Halloween card. Just remember to watch that heat gun unless you want hanging cobwebs haha

I thought you were supposed to use "used" dryer sheets. Once they've been through the dryer they've lost the stiffness of the fabric softener as well as most of the smell.

I have a segment from an old Carol Duvall show... I'll get it out and see.

The idea, as I recall, is to get a lace look on your card stock. The dryer sheet melts in a lacy design and sticks to the paper when you hit it with a heat gun.

Am I thinking of the wrong project?

We were experimenting with doing it before it was a "used" sheet.
