Well....around here the only thing that grows wild (it is an invasive species) that has berries this time of year that look similar to small blueberries and has thorns is the common buckthorn Rhamnus cathartica but I would not call them sweet smelling. There are others like the alternate-leaf dogwood Cornus alternifolia that get blue berries that are similar looking to elderberries but they don't have thorns. Well if the Dimension computer has a separate video card - as opposed to onboard - and if both computer have the same video slot (AGP or PCIe) you could move the card from the dimension to the Inspiron to see how it looks before spending money perhaps. Sam- thank you! love your alnwick mine was a band last year and I planted in the ground instead of potting for a year so it's doing its thing slowly. The mayflower of yours has a vivid lilac pink in that picture! My Fairchild rose gets like that. I really love that color against the green of the leaves. Evelyn looks like its glowing during dusk lighting conditions! It's definitely been diva worthy trying to figure out what type of fertilizer it best benefits from. I think in earlier posts I read that Evelyn like it more on the alkaline side. I didn't get any growth/buds until I pruned back its floppy canes and fertilized with the chickity doo doo, the dr earth and the neptunes. I have a feeling this one is a heavy feeder! (Worse than my golden celebration). I need to bust out some of my compost tea but it's not ready yet.. you started with yours yet? Totoro- I'm not sure what the ph is... haven't sent for ph testing or done the cabbage test. What do you suggest I do for it? I was thinking maybe some neptunes and some banana peels? I'm not really worried about burning roots since I bury the peel just outside drip zone and I've never seen any signs my roses didn't like in. In my sandy soil, organics just disappear so fast! And they gets the worms to come... but if you have any different advice, please do share! Thanks!
