A few Disneyland pics

It was really hard getting good pics because Grant is waaaayyyy too busy to pose for my camera! But I got a few cute ones.

This one cracks me up, he was in a total daze but the look on his face is worth showing. He looks so sad! :-(

This was taken on the stage in Mickey's house. He got up there and immediately started dancing and clapping.

Not really any explaination needed here except that this is a rare photo because Grant hates sunglasses and hats, but he thought these were funny for about 3 seconds.

This was after I gave him his new Buzz Lightyear toy. It's MUCH louder in my house than it was in the noisy store!!

I dont know why his hair looks red in some photos, I guess the lighting is just off. It's not even close to red, it's definitely blonde.

Oh, Steph, I don't think he looks sad in the first photo -- he looks wistful... pensive... As if he's thinking that it would be cool if he were big enough or old enough to join in on whatever he was watching. Sort of like a "Someday that will be me..." look.

Thanks for the informative post mountainman. I knew that some open eye figs needed to be pollinated and other do not. I did not know that pollinating them could cause the pulp to change color. As for the poetry, I have written lots of poetry some better and some worse than the one above. Though I have never written a poem about figs before today. I just wanted express my love for figs and my unknown Keepers. I would not trade them for any other named fig. For now they are but a sweet mystery to be savored again and again. Till the Fall season over takes them and they sleep as though dead till Spring returns them to me once again. Enough now of poetry as this is not a poetry forum.lol

Thank you....that's it, FULL MOON!!! Well, I'll be looking for a source to get one for next winter. Not the right time to get it now. I only have THREE, could always use a little more beautiful shade, and a good view from every window of the house.

It can be very cold in El Paso. They actually got a decent amount of snow this last winter, more than us up north in central NM. My dad who grew up in Michigan and resides here in NM where it snows regularly says the biggest snowflakes he has ever seen in his entire life he saw in El Paso! Warmer atmospheres allow for bigger flakes, incidentally. Colder than one would think. It doesn't snow often, but it can surely snow (unlike most of AZ). The ariidity helps tremendously with the palms.

How fun! I love Disneyland and we go almost every year. Here are some things to consider: 1. Rides for your 7 yr old: Don't worry, nothing goes upside down. Check the height requirements online to see what he's tall enough for. I would skip the big fast ones like space mountain to start. My younger DD is sort of timid about rides and at that age the only faster ride we could get her on was the Thunder Mountain Railroad. It's fast, but in reality pretty tame as roller coasters go. Then she warmed up a little and we tried other things. She was okay w/Pirates (she is fine w/that one, but does NOT like the haunted mansion) so I still think that's worth a try--it's played more for laughs than it used to be. You can play spot Jack Sparrow. Kids this age love the Autopia cars (get a Fastpass for sure) and the Astroblasters in tomorrowland. The Indiana Jones ride is lots of fun, and not scary in terms of the ride aspects, but can be scary in terms of the "theme", as it seems you are in jeopardy. You mentioned he was timid about high fast rides--this isn't really, but it can be scary as a "story". DD is scared of Splash Mountain too, so I'd skip that one. And in Cal Adventure, the best ride of all (a must) is Soarin' Over California. Get the fastpass. I have not seen the new Carsland there, but I'm sure a 7 yr old boy would love it. Kid rides tend to have slow lines, though, so try those early while waiting for your fastpass return for Soarin'. For your 3 yr old: Hang out in Fantasyland. Our favorites are Peter Pan, Dumbo, and It's a Small World. Steer clear of Snow White, which seems to scare everyone, in spite of it being a "kid" ride. Your son would also enjoy the Fantasyland rides. As was mentioned before, you can avoid the characters if you want, so no worries. Lots of young kids don't like them. I have not spent much time in Toontown, but it might be worth a look as well. Another fun ride for young kids is the Nemo submarine one. That has a slow line, though. Timing-wise, Fantasyland gets SLOW, so pick up a fastpass for something such as Autopia, then do Nemo, then head to Fantasy land. I agree w/others to leave the park for a rest in the afternoon, then go back at/after dinner. Food: I think the Blue Bayou always looks so fun, but the one time we went it was disappointing. For regular kid-friendly food, we like the Hungry Bear restaurant. It always seems to have seats, and it's next to the river. We also like the French Market in New Orleans square. These are fast places--not full table service. We don't always watch the parades (sacrilege, I know) so I have no advice for you there. We did see the World of Color and enjoyed it, but had to stand for the majority. It looks like the Howard Johnson is about one-quarter mile north of the main park entrance, so a little walk, but not bad. I hope you have a lovely trip!

Grant is so lucky..Granlan didn't get to Disneyland until she was a Mom with a 5 yr. old..hard to say who had more fun then. lolol

Oh he's so cute! Where was Mickey? He usually is there to pose for pictures with the kids. I bought that same toy for Ricky when we got off of the Buzz ride.....mommy and I both argued about who's house it was staying at! It is a noisy one! Glad you got to go and have a good time. I love Disneyland! Grant looks so cute in that first picture..so serious!

Steph, he just looks tired and content in the first picture, IMHO - darling shot. Of course, all the shots are delightful - it's a trip he will remember all his life!!!

Steph - a lot of the photos I take of Collin make him look like a red head, and he's as blonde as he can be. Sometimes I think it's the surrounding colors that affect his hair color in photos. It drives me nuts because all of the other colors in the photo will be accurate.

Cute photos - looks like he had a good time.

Awww that boy can sure put a big grin on my tired old face fast!!! I loved the pics! So much fun for Grant! He is SUCH a sweet boy!
I LOL'd at the toy! My DS got something that looked similar one year and OMG! I hated that d@man thing before a week was up! Course it was his absolute favorite thing to play with too! LOL

Vikki, Mickey was there. I got a picture of Grant and Brent with Mickey but Grant didnt like the characters at all. He tolerated Mickey as long as he didnt touch him or get too close, but the others, he cried.

The only thing he cared about was running around. He did love Toontown of course, but didnt like any of the rides. They scared him. He needs at least another year before he'll truly enjoy Disneyland.

What a great photo op Steph. They are all so cute of him. I can see where the characters might scare a wee one. But you're right, give him another year or so and he'll be running right up to them probably.

Those are really cute Steph. I think he looks sleepy in the first pic, not sad though. Isn't he at such a fun age? I loved when Alyssa was that age!

Love those shades! We took our two daughters to Florida Disneyworld twice before they were 5. Today they are 18 and 19, they don't even remember! Plan to go back again when Grant is older!

We will definitely go back to Disneyland, its just a 6 hour drive or short flight, and we both love Disney so I think it will probably be an annual thing for us.

Nothing makes me want to open a thread faster than pictures of Grant.
I just love seeing him grow up into such a happy and handsome little boy.
And to think that we've known him since he was just a lil peanut!
